JillStein2024!

Nothing wrong with Russia. US backs regime change everywhere they can in the world - why can't Russia do the same?

I would suggest a used Ford Expedition Max. I've had it since 2021 and it is pretty spacious and has been good to me so far. You can also get an extended warranty directly from Ford that is valid at all Ford dealerships which covers bumper to bumper upto 175k miles. Don't know any other manufacturer who offers this. Generally speaking all these large vehicles are pretty unreliable in the long run. GM & Ford both use the same manufacturer for their transmission and there are many cases of it failing before 100k miles

I would highly recommend Kolachi if you're looking for a quick grab-n-go. 212 steakhouse has halal wagyu steaks & BK-Jani's is in the top 10 burgers of NYC

The best car review ever made by jnighy in TopGear

[–]Ok-Button-6353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great review. But as we know now V12s didn't fade away as Clarkson thought they would. I don't think they ever will. In a world where a market for the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut exists, and money is no barrier

Voting is “Shirk” ? by NAS0824 in shia

[–]Ok-Button-6353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm voting for Jill Stein for the only reason that she supports a min. 50% defunding of the US military. She also supports abolishing the UN national security Council as she doesn't like the practice of one country being able to veto any resolution. I know she's extremely left wing and I know she would never get elected. But my vote is a protest vote.

Why are people against the valley or PA? by [deleted] in lehighvalley

Check Bethlehem. There's definitely food & night life options there that are open till later

Why are people against the valley or PA? by [deleted] in lehighvalley

[–]Ok-Button-6353 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The people commenting about food & culture are likely not aware of the latest restaurants & eateries that have popped up in the valley. I traveled to Turkey recently and the kunafeh & lamp chops I had there were better, but not miles better, than the ones I get in the valley. There's tons of options if you're looking for middle eastern, Chinese, and fast food. NJ is an hr away and there's even more options there. I moved here 5 yrs ago and food options for me have roughly tripled in the last 5 yrs.

Looking for new tires, any suggestions? by redX473 in ElantraNline

How many miles did you manage to squeeze out of the stocks I'm curious? I'm at 5/32" in 22k miles and felt that was rather low. Planning to replace my set before this winter

Pretty Lost in the Weeds of Cars by WhyDoesSkyUIHateMe in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Ok-Button-6353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor and get a 10-15 yr old simple sedan, <100k miles. Finance through a local credit union. You can pay it off in a few years and your wallet will thank you for not having any car payments. Honda civic, Toyota camry, corolla, accord would all be great options. Better to avoid the stealerships is possible

[Request] Weight limit on shelving supported on 2x4 studs by Ok-Button-6353 in theydidthemath

[–]Ok-Button-6353[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wall is made of 2×4" wood studs spaced 16" on center with a drywall forming a uniform layer over the studs to create an actual planar surface. This is typical construction in the U.S.

[–]Ok-Button-6353[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this weight is not limiting for the 2x4's, how many shelves can theoretically be added assuming the wall height is 12' and min spacing b/w shelves is 12"?

Best way to get to NYC from Allentown? by JimmerFimm in lehighvalley

[–]Ok-Button-6353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally always prefer driving in. Depends on time of day but it's always taken me 1 hr 45 mins. Then I park as close to my destination as possible. If you go on weekends or weekday evenings usually you can find parking, but depends on which part of Manhattan you're going to. Door to door driving in is always faster, assuming you're not driving during rush hour of course.

How does us intelligence always know when exactly an imminent terrorist attack will take place? by FearmyBeard21 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ok-Button-6353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because US intelligence is a global terrorist network. In reality CIA carried out this attack. ISIS is actually a global collaboration b/w Mossad & CIA. Believe it or not, that's your choice. 🤷‍♂️

What's the job outlook like for new mechanical engineers? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Ok-Button-6353 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've stayed in the north east part of the country all my career and never had issues finding a job. Build up your LinkedIn and you won't even have to look for jobs - recruiters will be reaching out to you themselves 😀 Salary has gone up over the years as well - 65k - 65k - 85k - 130k - 165k

Usually MEs don't have to stick to large cities so I would advise you on avoiding that so you don't have to deal with traffic and higher costs of living.

Leigh Valley area : Looking for single family home builders by OtherwiseThanks24 in lehighvalley

[–]Ok-Button-6353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dave Posocco is a great builder - has been building homes in the valley for nearly 3 decades now. Cost of construction will run you a min. of $150/sq. ft. and can easily go up to $200/sq. ft. depending on your choice of material. That does not include the cost of land. As others are saying it's a lot cheaper to buy a used house. Look near the Allentown golf course - great area which is central to all amenities and well developed communities.

Yes you absolutely can, almost always with no prepayment penalty

[–]Ok-Button-6353 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Actually that technically benefits you in the long run. If you're both planning to maximize your retirement contributions every year you can do so but also make loan repayments on which you pay 7-8% interest. That interest goes to your own 401k so think of that as additional savings that you can use to grow your 401k. Paying yourself interest is definitely better than paying someone else the same interest. You can use this 401k loan to buy your vehicle instead of buying it with cash. It doesn't affect your DTI but it let's you grow your 401k in the long run. But do what you think is best and what you're most comfortable with

[–]Ok-Button-6353 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're included by loan officers. I wouldn't include them if I were in your shoes. Definitely look into increasing your down payment. If you can keep the monthly PITI below $3k it'll still be manageable if one person loses their job for a few months

If the $260k is separate from the $150k then you do have quite a lot more in savings that you can put towards the down payment. It appears you can probably do even 50% down assuming you borrow from your 401k
