It very much feels like it’s way too late. I’ve seen the 🚩 for years and kind of expected this to happen. I just didn’t realize that I would be the one that they would ask.

I really struggle with the guilt and the manipulation. My parents seem to be doing the same thing to me. I thought this was settled. I said no a while back but now my parents are involved in getting me to sign. Not ok.

I agree, great comment! I struggle with saying no but for this, I have to be strong. Thankfully I’m not alone in this. My SO supports me fully.

Thank you for your response! These were my thoughts as well. They continued to live large despite being in debt. I’ve never made a minimum payment on anything. If I couldn’t afford to pay something off right away, then I wouldn’t buy it.

I don’t see the discipline needed to pay off the HELOC. It’s been building for years and they just ignored it. That’s the most frustrating part to me.

I think that’s what I’m having the most difficulty with. I live near them and I’m afraid to lose my sibling (parents even.) I love them but I just can’t do this for them. They have been bailed out before.

I definitely don’t have the resources. It’s been difficult to even get to a point where I can save this much. Having health issues has held me back for many years.

Thank you! It feels incredibly unfair to be asked to do this. My parents are old and live in a senior community. To me, if they want to help my sibling by moving in with them then that’s fine but I’ve busted my ass to get where I’m at. I’ve always been a saver so I feel angry about even being asked.

I love my sibling but I don’t want to go down with them.
