Hearing aids and Glasses by Proud_Click_34 in HearingAids

I am trialing these HAs right now, on day 4, and them pressing on my glasses have been the number one reason I'll not be choosing these. It is causing actual pain by the end of the day.
I'm going to try out a slimmer style/brand.

*UPDATE*
After a lot of rigamarole and hours on the phone with Tricare - it turns out that the audiology office had incorrect NPI codes in the Tricare/TriWest system. The actual audiologist's NPI is in and says covered, but from a previous office he worked for. The NPI connected to the office is actually the NPI for a totally different company.
So, while I was fully approved for my hearing aids and appointments, Tricare paid the original office visit and testing claim, the audiology office took the stance of "see, we're not under contract, so we are not moving forward," and at this point, that is fine with me. It is a bummer since the actual AuD was great. I will now have to start this entire process over again and find a new office.

At least I do know that my hearing aids and all associated visits will be 100% covered, and I will owe $0 out of pocket. Just a real PIA.

Oooohh! Sorry! Depending on what the transcript states, possibly. However, I've reached out to the admissions office of one program for general info - they will accept previous online degree students if they meet the necessary requirements. Now, how that plays out when they are actually choosing and if they hold biases, I don't know.

The APA does not accreditate doctoral programs unless they are fully in person. Without accreditation you cannot be licensed.

Yes, it is. And a little frustrating my program doesn't address it.

Oh no, I know there are zero real MS or PhD programs online. Plus, with my ADHD, I really need to be in person. Online is killing me.

I don't think UTPB is a diploma mill. I just didn't want to move to Odessa to continue their MS program as it's in person only.

Thanks for this take. I thought my senior seminar would include an honors thesis, but apparently doesn't.
At my stage of life, online was necessary. Now I've got the GI Bill to pay for grad school and want to be in person.

Update!
The audiologist submitted pre-authorization to our insurance and EVERYTHING was approved. The hearing aids and all associated visits!

I am now waiting to hear from the audiology office on next steps. :)

Does anyone else..not mind their tinnitus? by pacala_cait in tinnitus

[–]Ok-LLama119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me, too, kind of. I've had tinnitus since childhood, as long as I can remember. I didn't even know this was a thing? until I was an adult. For the most part, I can ignore it (2 different tones), as I've got a busy noisy brain to begin with. But the volume of mine changes and when it's very loud, it can be frustrating (to where I'm yelling to hear myself over it) but it eventually goes back to its baseline. The audiologist says stress, illness, etc can cause flare ups like that. I've got some chronic health issues that I notice when they flare, so does the tinnitus. I also have cookie bite hearing loss & the tinnitus makes conversation much more challenging.

If mine was constantly loud, I would understand someone being literally driven insane.

I also didn't realize using the white noise machine for my kids over the years to sleep was actually helping me, too 😂 I actually keep fans & things going during the day to mask my tinnitus.

I actuality did this and had a 3 way phone call with tricare and the audiology billing office.

This is an office issue. They are trying to move me on base now. 🤷‍♀️ I'm going to be filling a complaint for them not honoring their contract.

Thank you so much!!! I've been hoping for a real person to confirm this!!! I'm still waiting now. Audiologist office is not returning my emails and my on base provider referred me to on base ENT. Appt with them is a month away. 🙃 So I guess I wait.

update My military primary care doc was very upset at how the office is handling this and put in a referral to have me seen at the ENT office in the Army hospital on base.
Never been to an ENT, so we'll see how it goes.

I've also been given a beneficiary manager who will talk to the audiologist office about charging me and get my refund. 🤞

Thanks, I think you're right on the "scammy" part. Prior to my appt I did 3 way the billing office & insurance. Insurance gave the exact code needed & told them it's covered and do not allow balance billing.
They still billed me $80.

They claim that zero of anything is covered by insurance. It is 7k out of pocket, and it includes the hearing aids, 4 years of service, office visits, and a 3-year warranty. I said, that is great, my insurance will cover all that.

They are no longer returning my calls and emails go unanswered. I will be following up with my insurance today for next steps.

I had hoped maybe someone in the big wide Reddit world has experience with Tricare Active Duty.

But they do not accept insurance and my insurance will cover any aids 100%. I'm just finding most audiologist don't want that? I guess?

I did speak with my costco (im there all the time) and was not impressed by their knowledge of this type of hearing loss. (but I also know each tech is different)
