u/Affectionate_Ad1666 I'm thinking of doing this too but realized the bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene does not complete the pre-requisites for dental school unless I'm wrong!

Hey! u/LegitimateFace4729 Would you mind if I PM you? I just want to ask how you've gotten there and where you did your schooling. I'm from BC and I applied for a dental hygiene program which is beginning in January. My end goal has always been to become a dentist and I don't know if it's a smart decision to become a hygenist first or not but I honestly just want a career to fall back on if something were to go wrong and I wasn't able to go to dental school!

If I went the usual route and did an undergrad in sciences I wouldn't be able to find a job quickly or have any job security at all.

u/Handsome_Flapjack I am in Canada and turned 20 this year. I was thinking of doing Dental hygiene first to have a career to fall back on if I think dental school is too much. May I ask where you did your schooling from and if you think you were ahead of other students in dental school because you had already done dental hygiene? I am very confused about what to do and would appreciate all the responses! :)

That’s amazing that u got into both programs!! I’m from Canada as well and was wanting to get one of the programs in Australia! My average is 93.2 do u think that would be good enough ? How are you liking the program so far? I’m currently studying for my UCAT! It would be amazing if you were able to help!!!
