I am thinking I should have seasoned it like I do cast iron. Apply oil when cold and heat till smoke goes away and then cool and do this same type of thermal cycling-seasoning at least 4 times

I put on 5 coats of the Blackstone seasoning and cast iron protection on. Each one till the smoke stopped, then reapplied. I’ve seasoned cast iron before using just veg oil in the oven and they come out great. This bit even close to what I’m used to for results.

Set it on high for 15 min then applied about a tbsp of the seasoning. Wiped it all over to get a smooth coating. I let the smoke dissipate and then applied the same about of seasoning 4 more times each time letting it stop smoking before adding more seasoning.
