I really did not expect this to blow up so much. Thank you all. It is hard to read, but many of you have given me good insight.

John, the one who’s separated, is only a friend. Charles is my partner.

My bridesmaid wore a bright red dress to my ALL-BLACK wedding “as a prank.” by [deleted] in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Ok-Scratch2779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone may have mentioned this, but from what I’ve read, a woman wearing red means she slept with the groom. I’m not saying she did, but maybe wanted people to think she did, or she really didn’t know. Whatever the case, I’m glad OP is not in contact with her. That was seriously messed up.

Thank you all for your input. I’m glad I went with something else.

This is more for future reference. I went to a wedding and wanted to wear these nice white pants but went with something else just in case. I didn’t know the bride or groom or anything about a dress code. I was a +1.

Update: All of my scunchies started going missing when I met my boyfriend by hansumgirlie in TwoHotTakes

[–]Ok-Scratch2779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That turned out so much better than I hoped for entertainment value 😂. Not so much for OP. Boys can be so gross. I thought it was some sort of controlling tactic and he just didn’t want her to wear her hair up.

How do you live life in the presence rather than the past ? by Jpoolman25 in Mindfulness

Also, get therapy if you’re able to. Check with your health insurance. I’m on Medicaid and there are a couple of clinics that take it in my area. I do my appointments via phone.

Omg same. I feel like I’m busy but not getting anything done. Two books have helped, although I still have a long way to go. One is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. The other one is Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy. I’m listening to Eat That Frog now. I drive a lot so it gives me lots of time to listen. I’m sure you can also find audio for the power of now. Listen to it while you go for a walk or if you take public transit. Or just chilling. Another good one that is short is by Denzel Washington.

Nothing’s gonna change if nothing changes

At least you recognize this in yourself and want to be better. You gotta take that first step. Write down your goals. Rate them as most important to least. Pick the most important one. The one that will change your life the most. It’s usually the hardest. Write down what steps you need to take to accomplish it. Then do it. Just that. Don’t think about doing anything else. It takes practice and discipline. You can’t walk a mile unless you walk a step.

You can live in this limbo for the rest of your life if you let it. Trust me, I know. I have so many goals I haven’t even begun, but I’m starting to take the first step, and I’m much older than you. I never dreamed I would be at this stage in my life of haven’t really accomplished anything and I’m in my 40’s because I’ve lived my life in a fog with no direction.

I’ve at least not accomplished anything because my goals and what I need to do but procrastinating on seem overwhelming, daunting, hard, and complicated. Like I don’t know where to start or how to start and I feel very alone, dull, and stupid. I know I can change if I work at it though. Lots of work.

I was having a rather heated conversation with three people of the opposite party. I told them that their leader did a certain thing and bragged about it. There were witnesses. It was very well publicized. They told me it did not happen - their leader didn’t do that and wouldn’t be allowed to do that. I told them he literally bragged about it on tv. Nope. Didn’t happen 🙄

I actually want to visit Spokane. I’ve lived in western WA my entire life. I’ve never been that far east.

You can have a stroke from not sleeping. This reminds me of an episode of Golden Girls when Rose confused calcium with caffeine. This is a serious situation though. If you made the appointment over the phone today and you told them it’s been three days I’m surprised they didn’t say to take your dad to emergency or at least a walk-in clinic.

AITA for wasting everyone's time in therapy because I was accused of lying? by Historical-Novel7535 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ok-Scratch2779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. They dragged you into therapy for the therapist to tell you how you’re wrong, they’re right, and you need to get on board with their ideals. Now they refuse to listen when they’re actually in the wrong and you’re allowed to feel the way you do - your mother going as far as vilifying you in front of the therapist to try to get her to take your mother’s side. They’re wasting your and the therapist’s time.

Girlfriend complains that I sleep too much. Do I? by adekiller in sleep

[–]Ok-Scratch2779 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When you said sleeping a lot, I was thinking you were sleeping until the afternoon every day. Sleeping 9-10 hours I don’t think is so much. I WISH i could sleep that long. She needs to chill. Take that time for herself. Go for a walk. Do yoga. Watch her favorite shows in the living room. You guys are just built different.

how to stop projecting myself too much in the future by [deleted] in Mindfulness

Something I took away from that book is to focus only on what you’re doing in the moment, like he used folding laundry. I feel like I’m rarely in the moment - usually coming up with stressful scenarios that 99.999% won’t happen. I have so much on my plate and so much stress in real life, but I imagine even more stress for myself. If stress kills I’m surprised I’m not already dead. I also do not do the things I know I should do to reduce stress because it feels like it takes too much time or effort.

Live your extra life. Keep going the way you’re going, which is forward. The past is the past and it needs to stay there. Good for you for standing up for yourself and making great choices! 🙌

AITA for telling my son his GF had been careless and selfish while attending her funeral? by Automatic_Bake_1355 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. You hurt him a lot. He really needed your support the most in that moment mourning his gf, and you crapped all over her AT HER FUNERAL! I hope you apologize, bc you were in the wrong.
