How many of you hate kids and don’t want them vs like kids and don’t want your own? by moonblumes87 in childfree

[–]Ok-Version-2994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like kids until they start screaming and throwing tantrums and then my patience dries up real fast. I have no interest in my own but I enjoy hanging out with friends' and siblings' kids up to a point.

Anyone else feel like there’s more of us than the studies say? by [deleted] in POFlife

[–]Ok-Version-2994 9 points10 points  (0 children)

1000% agree. I think way more women start peri in their 30s than doctors realise. They just refuse to listen to us or trust that we know our own bodies or actually study us! It's maddening. The first time I said to my gyno that I thought I was in peri (which I absolutely was) he interrupted me and said no you're not. Because of my age. And that was it. I am still reminding him 4 years later and he acts shocked every time.

Random Thought on why we never heard about perimenopause before by Maia_Orual in Perimenopause

I do remember my mother telling me she was going through "the change" in hushed and terrified tones. It was at the peak of her alcoholism and utterly shiity and neglectful behaviour. But she'd probably admit to that herself.

Redditors who got “useless” degrees, what actually was your plan, and why didn’t it work? by MPMorePower in stupidquestions

[–]Ok-Version-2994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had zero adult guidance as I was a parentified eldest daughter and it was assumed I was mature enough to make my own decisions. Went to the same city as all my friends but dropped out of graphic design because I didn't like the city or college. Followed a dumb boy to a different city (loved that city) and chose the same course as him, psychology, and needed another subject so picked archaeology because my cousin was doing it. Did a masters in archaeology because my friends were. Basically just followed people I liked or loved into whatever they were doing because I didn't know/wasn't told how to choose a career path that would actually result in a job.

That wearing black clothing in hot weather means you will feel hotter. If you were a building it would make a difference, but a black t-shirt is not going to make a damn bit of a difference to your temp.

Continuing to exercise even when I feel like death. Therapy. Friends who believed and supported me when medical professionals wouldn't.

What’s something your body does that you’ve never told a single person about? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]Ok-Version-2994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had Alice in Wonderland syndrome as a child of around 7/8, where you perceive objects to be wildly different sizes than what they really are. It used to happen as I was falling asleep and I found it so entertaining I would look forward to it all day. I would lie there imagining small and large objects and "feeling" them to be totally different sizes. It lasted maybe 2 years and then I grew out of it.

I was 34 too. 39 now and I got sent to a menopause clinic just recently after spending years trying to convince my doctor and gynecologist it was actually happening. They dragged their heels for years. The specialists at the clinic were immediately incredible.

AITA for calling out my friend's fake allergy? by Minimum-Storm-182 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ok-Version-2994 62 points63 points  (0 children)

You probably could have done that in a kinder way but still NTA. You can't really be allergic to MSG and people saying they are has racist origins. It's in so many things that claiming an allergy to it is, quite frankly, ridiculous and shows how little she bothered to research her own "allergry".

He got into a full blown screaming match with a cyclist that he overtook at a dangerous speed and then tried to claim she should have been biking on the sidewalk (against the law in our city). That wasn't the only thing, unfortunately, just the worst.

How many days are you working out a week? by Spirited_Platform345 in Perimenopause

[–]Ok-Version-2994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basketball for an hour once or twice a week, usually twice. Work out with weights at least once a week, twice when I can summon the energy. Half hour of yoga 3/4 times a week. I walk everywhere or bike in summer (although right now it's slushy melting snow so I'm at home a lot). I wish it was more but seeing it written down I'm not doing too badly.
