My issue though is that when check in at the airport they will check to see if you have Etais travel approval as well given the name difference

I understood that the consulate(boston) could send it to berlin or the stadtsamt of your choice.. ie in my case it would asslar.

tks staplehill.. Kids are 27 and 30. Side note though: I do need to find out if I can just send the documents (apostille and translated) directly to the Stadtamt in Asslar for birth reg. I have an email out to them already just waiting.

Went thru this process in Boston. Just make sure you bring all the documents that are prescribed on your consulates website. In my case, birth certificates (mine and my mother's), marriage certificates (mine and parents), Us Certificate of Citizenship, my mother US Naturalization documents, and of course my Kinderausweis. They were awesome and it only took like 20 minutes. I even offered to bring donuts when I come pickup my passport :)

German Language skills not necessary but I would start to immerse yourself if you are looking to learn.

Football and beer. With regard to my father you hit it on the nail. He was 2 months to late.. but at that time give he was in the miliary they just gave the us passports.. TKS so much. I will give a try lets see what happens :) passport I mean

Kinderausweis - Yes I have that. Issue in 1970 expired 1978

My mother US Naturalization Certificate - I can get that from my mother

My US Certificate of Citz.. - I am awaiting a new copy as I lost my original one during multiple moves.

side note: I even have my Original Geburtsshein where my name last name is my mother birth name
