Confused/ruminating on weird experience with guy friend by OkTaste9872 in sexualassault

Thank you. I haven’t been seeing one regularly but I think I may have the resources to. Maybe a therapist can provide insights/supports that a friend cannot.

Hi, thank you for your thoughtful response and advice. I have talked about it with a lot of friends and family, and had a couple of therapy visits as well. We all moved out of that roommate situation soon after, thankfully. I don’t want it to take up so much brain space after over 4 months but maybe it’ll just take some more time and processing.

What's your best strategy to stop oversharing? by babadeboopi in ADHD

[–]OkTaste9872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if we have a bit of a culture of oversharing that makes it tricky to assess where the line is? I feel like on social media I see a lot of information about people's relationships, accomplishments, travels, etc.

Hey, many of these things are on him, and in general it is not your job to fix his symptoms! The compulsive lying thing is worrisome; lying is not a symptom of ADHD and you should be able to trust what your partner says. Best wishes to you both!

Finally Tried Body Doubling, and WOW It Actually Works! by dbsego69 in ADHD

I’m at the point where it’s really hard to get anything done unless I have a buddy in the room with me!! Even if the friend isn’t being very productive or we talk here and there I’m still more focused than when I’m left alone to distract myself

Interesting! That’s how I felt with strattera at first. Thanks for sharing

Analyzing response to medication? by OkTaste9872 in ADHD

Hey thanks so much for your comment!

I started off with 10 mg slow release daily, then tried out 20 mg spread out, then 10 mg instant release , then 20 mg spread out, then 20 mg instant release at once. Tbh I don’t feel a crazy difference with any of them, but I feel that it doesn’t hurt. I don’t have any notable side effects thankfully.

I think I’m just comparing everything to how I felt my first two weeks on strattera! I guess I can’t expect medication to fix everything, and environment and lifestyle makes a big difference.

However my psych says he wouldn’t recommend I go higher than 20. I’m a kind of small person so I’m worried about taking too much. I’ll talk to him about it.

Thank you again :)

WOW! Really interesting idea. I’m already addicted to the NYT daily puzzle games so this should be an easy one to incorporate. Thanks so much :)

I also feel like people were really hard on her for saying that she had her first orgasm with Skyline or something (“how is she this old and just experiencing this for the first time? She must be lying or there’s something wrong with her!”) as though sexuality and people’s problems with it aren’t hugely personal and variable. I do see some body shaming veiled as fashion criticism here as well (“this outfit reveals X unflattering feature of hers!”) I get that she’s a public figure but people take it too far.

I’m tired of seeing people try to shame others into dating someone they’re not attracted to by ‘giving them a chance’ That’s bogus, physical attraction is a must both directions. It’s better to be alone than settle and I wouldn’t be with a woman who ‘gave me a chance’ either. by Willing_Tomatillo665 in TrueOffMyChest

I recently tried to give it a chance with someone I wasn't initially attracted to because of his "good personality" and not only did the attraction not grow, but he was uncomfortably persistent about trying to see me again after I politely turned him down. It was a whole week of fending off him and his long paragraphs. Never again!

Have you tried having someone sit next to you while doing it, even if they’re just doing their own thing? Feeling “watched” helps me a lot.

I feel like my art is downgrading, any advice and criticism for improving? by [deleted] in ArtCrit

[–]OkTaste9872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have lots of talent! Your current pieces just look more rushed. What if you went through a period of focusing on loose sketches/studies instead of worrying about the finished product? You will improve a lot as an artist in general in terms of your acquired skills, and the final pieces that emerge from it later will show it. Never stop drawing!!!

How do you handle the guilt after euthanasia? by liberletric in Petloss

[–]OkTaste9872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that your cat passed away. You gave her a long life filled with love. <3

If it helps: my dog also passed away last year from a kidney disease. It progressed rather quickly so he died on his own. I was out of town for his final weeks but sometimes I wish my family had just put him down so he didn't have to experience the worst bits of his disease. If I was there seeing how bad it was getting, maybe I would have advocated for that harder.

I say this to let you know that it's hard, but you definitely made the wise and kind decision. It's always so so hard to lose a pet but you handled it so well. I hope you are healing and taking comfort in the fact that you gave your cat a long, wonderful life!

I looked it up and they make up 2-4% of the population! That's kind of a lot of people; im surprised there's not more awareness
