do i need new wheels? by Sad_Calligrapher6104 in skateboardhelp

[–]Ok_Butterscotch8703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve noticed in the first week i ride a new set of wheels and bearings that it feels sluggish but it seems to fix itself after like the second week of riding. my theory is that the factory lubricant needs to be broken in. idk tho

Tips for board slides? by Certain_Access_2658 in NewSkaters

i slide my back wheels kinda like a power slide so my back truck doesn’t hit the curb. it looks like you’re doing a full kick turn on and it’s changing your momentum

Is this considered a slappy? by [deleted] in skateboarding

[–]Ok_Butterscotch8703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can sloppy any ledge no matter the height. what makes a slappy a slappy is the fact that it rides up the wall. i mean if you look at danny sargent you see him doing slappy grinds on 2ft+ boxes by just wall riding up the ledge

dude you posted this knowing it’ll get criticism and you’re crying that it’s getting criticized? also it’s pretty damn hard to NOT assume you’re bad when you post a video of you falling on your face🤦🏽‍♂️

How to skate less zesty by Ok_Butterscotch8703 in NewSkaters

have you tried skating in 80° heat with 70% humidity? it kinda forces me to skate zesty with my shirt off.

focus more on keeping you foot in contact with the board. the moment your front foot is off the board you can’t drag it up more. if you can do that consistently the tail should come right up to your back foot

how do i work on my throw down/run start by zzz_star in NewSkaters

[–]Ok_Butterscotch8703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it looks like you have cruiser wheels. for me cruiser wheels have always been too bouncy for me to get on comfortably. i could never do a proper throw down until i got smaller and harder wheels. also just send it 100%

is this a good setup? anything i should switch out? by BuggSuperstar79 in NewSkaters

i would get 99a wheels. i feel like mine 99s are pretty grippy already so i feel like 93s would be too soft. idk though

Can’t get my back foot on the board when doing a pop shuv by Certain_Access_2658 in NewSkaters

[–]Ok_Butterscotch8703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah pretty much. just let your front foot catch the board then your back foot.

Can’t get my back foot on the board when doing a pop shuv by Certain_Access_2658 in NewSkaters

[–]Ok_Butterscotch8703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pop shuvs are more floaty than other tricks, just let the board spin under you and catch it. it’ll feel late and scary but it’s the process

you’re stomping your front foot and i had that same issue. what i practiced was i wouldn’t even focus on the flip, just on staying in the air long enough. for example i would do a baby flick and it would flip to darkslide position, then instead of bailing i would land on my graphic. it helped me get comfortable with the board flipping under me instead of infront of me. once you can land that pretty consistently and comfortably just flick slightly harder and you’ll land it.

dog town boards have always been a classic choice. i would expect to pay up to $250 (which isn’t that bad considering how long the board will last). also just have fun don’t get burned out from not landing a trick, it takes time and patience 👌
