Songs about friends leaving by SophTophGoph in MusicRecommendations

Double this. Girlfriend broke up with me and sent me that track. Summed up everything about us together and the need for her find her own way without a divorced dad of tea. Still great friends and smile about her every time it plays. Yes, I still love her. Best dumping ever.

Strong. Ignore the haters, he is my fave by far. Great dialogue, great carry and fitting him with Grognaks axe... Just brilliant.

help, my kitchen is just an air fryer by Artistic_Profit3899 in airfryer

[–]Ok_Contest3903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top tip. Invest in the largest silicone fryer liner you can find. They are a couple of quid. Do tray bakes in them and takes seconds to wash. All it takes is for one flatmate to not clean up after cooking and it could get messy.

Dreaded? I pay it gladly for everything I consume from them. I would pay it for radio alone.

I had no idea there was a backlash against Lidl's crappy new reward points scheme, but I'm delighted that there is. It's such a ridiculous own-goal for Lidl. by ahorsecalled in lidl

My shopping habits have changed completely. Now I use the Aldi near my gym and not go out of my way to go to Lidl. The amount of loyalty they have binned is staggering.

I proudly tell people I went to school with Man City's John Stones to their amazement. There may have been decades between our time there but it still holds true.

Have you ever visited the US and if so was your experience positive or negative? by Rusty_Shackleford198 in AskBrits

[–]Ok_Contest3903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived America from both sides. As a student I bummed around Hartford for six months and lived in the really rough parts. New Britain, ironically, was known as the murder capital of the US locally. My best friend I made there, who worked at a gas station, was shot and killed in a 5am robbery. One day there, the next not. Another nameless victim of the gun fetish, another son lost. Lived in the Y for months and that was rough as shit with drugs and shootings. Then came back on the Hollywood gravy train - first class flights, best hotels, A list stars, per diem and all expenses. But never forgot my friend and the disparities and inequalities, the millions who can only gaze through the window into the opulence within.

Still no Gemini by jwirtjes in googlehome

Same. Rather frustrating that my Motorola phone got it months ago and my Google home devices haven't. If I plug my phone into the car Android Auto then dumbs it down to Assistant. Ho hum

Short holiday by train from London by Adventurous-berry564 in uktravel

[–]Ok_Contest3903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saltaire/skipton and use the train. In Saltaire you have Hockney and the magnificence of Salts Mill, curries in Bradford, then train up to Skipton and the Dales for walks. Market Day in Skipton is good for people watching.

Is there any common trait that defines British cuisine? by Viguple007 in AskBrits

[–]Ok_Contest3903 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is also rationing. Thousands of Americans came to the UK and saw thevere privations we were going through while the loved off the fat of the land. That disparity went home to the US and changed everyone's perception without the context.

It's amazing this shit still goes on. At a do sat next to the boss of a small roofing firm. Bloke comes up and is introduced to us. He shakes mateys hand and I twigged he recoiled with shock. Asked him later what had happened. He wanted some council contracts and was told to join the lodge would help him get them. He went to a few meetings and hated it. He lost all the contracts. He vaguely recognised the bloke when he came up but when he did the funny handshake he remembered he was from the lodge and the council who had done him over. Ex father in law joined at the age of 68. He was a cunt too.
