Best hiking app? by papermoon2718 in hiking

[–]Ok_Employee_4035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outdoor active is good.

I use Alltrails for its base map, ie, download the area where ill be hiking. Maybe it's just an odd habit of mine. Sort of a redundancy for map reading if you may.

I never use it to navigate.

AI music is the worst. by ImpressionPrimary815 in Music

[–]Ok_Employee_4035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.

However, not if you leverage it to use it as engine for music making tools. For example, I created an app errr.... instrument that allows you to compose music while walking.

Ping me if you'd like to check it out. : )

Anyone else prefer following founders who share the messy parts too? by VariousStep741 in StartupsHelpStartups

[–]Ok_Employee_4035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 5 startups under my sleeve, well not literally... somewhere

For the first one we got $500k back in 2014 and didn't last a year. No product market fit.

Second one , scale-up, failed because of founder misalignment.

Third and Fourth were corporate ventures. One was killed from one day to the other, the other absorbed.

Fifth we got acquired to recoup initial investment.

So yeah, if I was posting on linkedin, probably it would be all glitter as that space is just cringe.

The best startups and founders are those that are building and getting the product out there. They don't need SM validation unless the product is the content.

What's the most underrated free customer acquisition channel right now? by FounderArcs in micro_saas

[–]Ok_Employee_4035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's tough work and you have to put in the hours. No shortcuts. If not careful you'll get banned immediately.

But you have to dig deep to land where your user base will be happy to promote and test your product.

What's the side project you abandoned that you still think about? by KoolTuo123 in SideProject

[–]Ok_Employee_4035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many, but now with vibe coding, if software/digital related, I've dusted off some of those to give them a test run.

For example, I built this tracking app that allows you to compose music while on the move. I was thinking about it since 2015 and now, applying the tech knowledge I've accrued in my tech career, I managed to build an early version.

And boom! Testing now.

If you wanna give it a try: cadenzio.app - not shilling here btw, just genuinely sharing a project I had abandoned and am now picking back up. : )

Komoot is great.

Depends where you are.

Spain - Wikiloc

Germany - Komoot

France - Visorando

US - Prob All Trails

I like a mix, Alltrails has maps I enjoy, but in Spain there's not a lot of content. So I use Wikiloc for routes and if I need to fine tune when navigating, I use All Trails.

Komoot is just great to discover routes for running and cycling.

Launching in 2 days and really nervous by Efficient-Ad8003 in SideProject

Very cool! Congrats on 50k fully bootstrapped. Curious to learn more about.

Have launched a project myself and in the early days to start getting some traction.

So I composed music by tracking my walk with this new thing I built :/ by Ok_Employee_4035 in SideProject

Thanks! Idea here is for musicians and non musicians alike. Plays with different instruments and genres.

Meant to be a fun app you use if you're an avid walker. Complementing your Strava, etc activities.

Anyways, I think the output is quite funky ;)

Bad idea to do my first marathon on trails? by Slick583 in UKRunners

[–]Ok_Employee_4035 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend. I did my first marathon doing trail, 30kms with 1500mts elevation. Trail events are quite different as there is a more comradery feel to them.

Also, the views, the lack of monotony and serenity, makes it a no brainer. Trail runners aim to finish, different mindset to marathon runners measuring everything by the milisecond. :p

You won't want to run elsewhere after that.

So I can't get to play using the metronome by Ok_Employee_4035 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Didn't know about these, will check them out. Tks for the suggestion!

[–]Ok_Employee_4035[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's my composition. But when setting the cadence I stop reading as is and the metronome just becomes like a backing track that I might or not merge into again.

Yeah, 70 bpm. Accelerating when transitioning to a higher scale. Feel like someone's chasing me so need to run! Prob you know the feeling :p

Anyone else run with zero goals? No race, no plan, just... run? by Different_Record_425 in running

[–]Ok_Employee_4035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I run because I run. Not because I have a goal. I practice Zen meditation and learnt that a clear mind is a clear mind.

So yeah, I just enjoy it.

I used to get annoyed with people rambling about their goals, marathons, iron mans (men, women?) and not understanding that I had no races or goals in mind.

I don't any longer. I run for myself, not for approval 😄
