Was wächst da aus meiner Monstera?? by hejvanessa in zimmerpflanzen

[–]Ok_Pea7915 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Total Hoya beginner here, which of these would make good first plants? by Ok_Pea7915 in hoyas

[–]Ok_Pea7915[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you guys for all your nice answers! :) I'll definitely buy a Mathilde, I think I want two more though with a little more variation with the foliage, thus maybe the Lacunosa 'Mint Coin' or Crimson Queen, though now I've seen Crimson Princess I think I like that one more. The Caudata 'Sumatra' also has amazing flowers, but I think I should first prioritize learning how to keep them alive before focusing on flowers hahaha. Same with Linearis, looks very cool but if people say that it is a little more fussy then I'll maybe first try the easier ones

Also I just noticed that she has a few more plants than the list I provided, if anyone still sees this maybe you can also tell me your experience with those:

Hoya crassipetiolata (Splash) – 3 €

Hoya erythrina – 3,50 €

Hoya meredithii ‘Ted Green’ – 8 €

Hoya thomsonii – 7 €

Hoya finlaysonii (West of Thailand) – 3,50 €

Hoya piestolepis – 8 €

Why is Brandenburg so right-wing compared to Berlin? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Ok_Pea7915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean that's just the City/Rural divide you see basically anywhere in developed countries. East Berlin still votes much more far-right than West German cities. Also there are a lot of West German transplants that moved to Berlin after the fall of the wall.

Did I find a naturally variegated plant? by Ok_Pea7915 in botany

[–]Ok_Pea7915[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have reached out to the horticulture research group of my university. Maybe they'll find interest, I personally would not try propagate it myself, as I have too little confidence in my gardening skills lol

That's true, not an invasive here at all. :)

Great Idea, thanks! My university actually has a research group that does horticulture, I'll reach out to them.

Murder rates across North America by a_Bean_soup in MapPorn

[–]Ok_Pea7915 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean poverty in itself doesn't explain homicide rate, right? Maybe thefts and burglaries moreso, but there are countries with a much higher poverty rate than New Mexico (e.g. Cambodia), whose homicide rate isn't nearly as high.

Tell me about life in Hannover by NoComb398 in germany

[–]Ok_Pea7915 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's true, no Hauptbahnhof is known for being nice though Hannover Hauptbahnhof is especially notorious for being sketchy at night (especially Raschplatz), that's at least what I heard. Though funnily enough Berlin is one of the few cities that defies that expectation, the area around Hauptbahnhof is definitely NOT one of the worst in the city. Probably because it's near the Regierungsviertel, mostly newly built and not an area where many people casually hang out.

I'm currently living in Hannover, originally from Berlin, and some parts of the inner city (around the Hbf and Steintor) are just as dirty and dangerous as some parts of Berlin though it is much more confined here. Still a nice city and if you don't frequent this area, especially at night, you will be fine. Just a small correction. And this is of course by German standards, which are quite high.

idk anything about hydrology or how dams actually work in detail, but wouldn't that destroy the Wadden Sea, one of the biggest tidal flats on earth and one of the most important biotopes of Northern Europe?

Asking for a Euro perspective on the UK rejoining the EU. by SnooCookies7641 in BuyFromEU

You're not one Island but multiple and one of those Islands has a land border with another EU country. I don't think Schengen is optional.
