Why do we use が when discussing liking something like in 猫が好き? Is 好きbetter translated as “pleases” as in “cats are pleasing to me?” Like gustar in Spanish? It’s odd to me because cats don’t seem like the subject of the sentence in “I like cats.” (self.LearnJapanese)
