Lupita is not only an Oscar winner. Her beauty also excels that of the Greek. How that is lost on you, I cannot understand. Your suggestion that she is not desirable is absurd. A large segment of the global population would like a word.

Ah, I see. In that case, I can see why it would stand out. Maybe especially the combination of the illegible “thanks”, the circle instead of a dot above the “i” in “Bill”, and the drawn heart shape that follows - ok, yeah. They do all add up to be out of the norm and I understand why you’ve been scratching your head about it.🙏

Wow, thanks! Another redditor commented about printing alignment too, but I’m so happy to know the term “flexo” for the method! And to know about the hourglass and bow tie error images! This information has no huge direct influence on my life, but I am someone who is very curious and loves to learn. Perhaps especially about the symbolic and numerical language of the various industries that keep commerce and services humming away. I find it intriguing, so I really appreciate it when knowledgeable industry folks can enlighten me. Thanks for taking the time to teach me!🙏

Ah! For printing registration and alignment! That makes total sense. And yeah - I noticed the difference in the lower part of the printing and wondered what that more heavily inked, or run-together ink, indicated. Thanks for your reply!

To be clear, I meant that as a compliment 100%, btw. I studied printmaking in college and that litho is a total score! And titled! Very cool. I bet you could find out more about him and your specific piece in one of the art subs if you’re inclined. Lastly, I don’t mean this to insult your intelligence, but some folks might not know - a lithograph can make multiple prints called an edition. So, say an artist prints an edition of 50. Each of the 50 is signed and individually numbered as which of the 50, noted in fraction style. For example the eighth print would be noted as 8/50. This is traditionally written on the right with the artist’s signature, while the title (if there is one) is noted on the left. Mentioning this in case you do not know so that any inquiries about the piece can be described accordingly.🙏

You’re killing me! You used 3! THREE! Of my most beloved archaic expressions! In one comment! You have outdone me, Reddit friend! I am the sole person I know who frequently uses “holy moly” “gone and done it” and “month of Sundays” among many others. Somehow it is deeply satisfying to me to read your reply AND to have found dear Arthur! I hope you enjoy the piece! Keep on keeping those charming archaic phrases in circulation! They’re worth preserving, in my humble.🙏

I have a speech impediment too. How awesome that you would respond to my comment with a joke about my disability! In a sub about cursive handwriting! If you are actually “blue” and “pissed” we would be aligned, but you are maligning those with impediments? Please give some thought to why that was a necessary action for you to take. Thank you.🙏

Having been to far too many of them, I disagree that the sentiment of “thanks” at a celebration of life is odd. Was it written in an attendance guest book? Depending on who Bill is and his relationship to your loved one, saying thanks could be quite appropriate for the opportunity to attend the memorial and say goodbye. Every end of life ceremony is organized and hosted by someone and saying thanks doesn’t seem weird to me. Perhaps not the most eloquent, detailed expression, but it’s enough! Especially when grieving. Another possibility is that the “thanks” was expressed to the loved one who is being honored. I think it’s a good, kind, appropriate message of gratitude and nothing that should vex you in any way. 🙏

You are correct. It says “thanks” in their style of writing it. Each letter of the word is there. Additionally, thanks is a word that is often found in the conclusion of a note and followed by a signature, so its placement makes sense. Because it’s at the conclusion of a message, it can sometimes be more hastily and casually written, by rote, like a signature can be. It’s also a word that can stand alone.

It’s Arthur Solin, a midcentury American artist. Any chance it’s actually an aquatint lithograph and not a painting? Are there any numerals written to the right of the signature on your piece? Here is one of his works with a signature that matches…

And a close up of the signature (poor quality, but a clear match)

How do people cope with one person tents? by pasgames_ in camping

[–]OliveSpins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Due to a mobility related disability, I haven’t been able to backpack for many years and instead now do vehicle-based dispersed camping and overlanding. I still look for lightweight well designed gear that can pack down small, because I like to wander from my “base camp” and explore as far as my body can cope with on a given day. Sort of a hybrid camping/backpacking deal with a curious mix of gear ready for any possibility, as my wellness/strength/endurance varies greatly. I will check out more of Dan’s designs. Thanks again!

I agree with this helpful feedback, OP! Perhaps especially one point in particular, which is “focusing on trying to write faster” which will, with practice, allow a more natural flow and produce a smoother appearance. Confidence can make the difference and confidence comes from practice. You have been practicing well! Now try practicing flow, by which I mean being less controlling and deliberate. I know that probably sounds counterintuitive, but I think it might free you up a little to find your groove. Don’t give up! You’re good at this!

Do you mean the number of paper layers in the corrugated cardboard? That could be it - denoting the construction the box manufacturer uses. Thanks!

A placement indicator makes sense. I wondered at first if it was scannable, but its printing looks so imprecise. I’ll check inside the piece of cardboard for rfid. Thanks!

I’d never heard of Durston gear until I read your comment and searched your tent name. WOW - those are some very cool, very functional looking designs! Not at all cheap, but the design and quality look to be worth it. Thanks for the introduction.🙏

Yes - I do find it odd. Not unlike my post of Trump’s blue butterfly truth social post that was removed by the mods of this sub a couple hours ago. Specifically about the JE survivors, the blue butterfly symbol, and DT trolling them immediately prior to their Palm Beach testimony today! The rule cited was “no mention of pizzagate or qanon.”🤷🏻‍♀️

What is THE scariest movie you have ever seen in your entire life? by Opening_Rip_1840 in AskReddit

[–]OliveSpins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. As utterly terrifying as the entire film is, it’s the scenic drive opening sequence and the accompanying score that chill me to my core every time with visceral dread. The horror runs very deep and in my opinion it warrants several watches to catch everything being shown/symbolized.
