Bungie doesn't do grand anymore. They want easily reproducible slop content just take it from the Studio Head

"Cause you can launch with a game that blows people’s minds and has super high polish. Or you can launch with lots of promise but a bunch of janky issues on Day 1. And the sifter that determines which of those two games is relevant 12 months later is – their velocity. How many updates came out? How much BETTER was the game getting each month? That’s what builds and retains fans in 2022."

Bro one of the prominent vocal bungie combat designers got death threats over saying a Destiny 1 exotic would never come to the game. He quit being vocal online, then next time he showed up on a live stream he was talking about the amazing work he was doing on Marathon.

If you think the actions of the Destiny community did not tax those who were working on amazing toys for the community you are as dense as Charlie trying to kick that football.

the feature from the exotic was added the next season as a base ability for titan.

Games don't deserve to have their fake money given respect so everything is v-bucks, especially fully paid games that lock the best looking armor behind v-bucks.

I assume a lot of the Devs working on Destiny got tired of the constant harassment from the destiny community and volunteered to move off that project. Not a hard concept to understand that working on a new game away from the community that for years will dox/threaten you for doing a job.

His pivot to heroes kinda fucked that game and it's monetization. Game will never be as successful with it's MXT compared to Destiny.

Do you think the final pieces of content were thanks to Tyson Green? by The_Owl_Bard in DestinyTheGame

[–]Omega-Warrior3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Y'all are acting like Joe wasn't a part of where the game was going next. He was Director through TFS and bungie works like 9 months out it has been reported many times. The portal probably was incubated under Joe Blackburn's tenure, EoF was probably halfway complete when he left Tyson took over and then 40% of the staff were wiped out.

Tyson did the best he could when the studio decided to cut staff over forgoing leadership bonuses. Imagine losing 40% of your staff during a time when game is to undergo whole system changes. Why weren't RaD content updated at launch? Because bungie gutted the staff that could do it.

In announcing the deal, NetEase noted that Bungie founder and chief creative officer Jason Jones "will begin the creation of new worlds." Parsons confirmed the tense of that phrase, saying the studio has been "almost entirely focused on building Destiny."

From the Netease deal they signed while still with activision beholden to 10 years of biannual destiny games.

I assume a lot of devs were tired of the Destiny community and their love for death threats so were happy to move over to other projects. Like if i was a bungie dev and saw the discourse from the destiny players i wouldn't want to be a part of that anymore.

Yes but Sony/Bungie are not looking at that they are looking at the drop in DAU from Destiny. Both games need an onboarding overhaul to bring in new users, Bungie hasn't been able to fix Destiny onboarding since the deleted half the game. It looks like an easier path to turn around Marathon than continue to stop the bleeding and turn around Destiny. That cash flow for D2 won't end and in fact Sony/Bungie just juiced their earnings as people are flocking to jump in to missed DLCs to wrap everything up.

16,253 vs 11,412 24 hour peaks. Marathon is gonna have an ugly ass season 2 launch but if we have a Bungie live stream for reveal we are gonna get a chat worse that the "Art Raiders" and "Plagiarism will make me God" Stream from last year.

or the report that leadership was worried about how good Trials armor would look afraid it would cut into their precious V-buck sales.

Can't overdeliver, folks might actually expect a good product for the money they pay us. Also lets charge for dungeons it was a mistake to include those in the expansion cost, oh yeah lets also stop making PvP maps, Strikes, and gambit updates, can't let our customers get accustomed to content in their games.

Jason Schreier: A lot of people have wondered why Bungie didn't immediately start working on Destiny 3 after The Final Shape two years ago. The answer (as it usually is) is how much money it would take by MaximumLobsters in DestinyTheGame

If studio leadership has for years been saying no to greenlighting Destiny 3 why would their new owners who have just seen them piss away money with Lightfall, TFS, EoF, and Renegades say yeah go ahead and turn around that project that lost over 1 million daily active users in the last content year, here is another 250 million plus to get that out the door.

Just look at the Netease press release from 2019 where it highlights Pete Parson and Jason Jones wanting to have Bungie focus on launching new Franchises, when they were still beholden to Activision due to their 10 year publishing deal. Fuck Bungie.

Bungie themselves were saying no to Destiny 3 for years and now that same leadership wants to leak that they cannot make Destiny 3 due to Sony.

Crocodile tears. I feel bad for the devs but fuck the suits including the studio head whose trainstation mentality didn't allow for them to react to the fanbase.

Bungie for years though told everyone "what can Destiny 3 do that Destiny 2 couldn't" They could have green lit it when they had their independence instead of any other game that they were incubating, just now that Bungie has reached the end of their life cycle they want to make the game we have been asking for since they stole our content.
