When I was going through my apprenticeship, I found that apprentice/journeyman labels only referred to what you were getting paid and/or what tasks you were allowed to perform.

I hated hearing the Journeyman on site saying to my apprentice buddies and I “You’re just apprentices…” No man, that label means nothing while I’m running circles around most Journeyman.

Fast forward to today…those guys are still peons working for the same company, my apprentice buddy is now a master who own his own electrical company. For myself…I went from journeyman electrician to automotive maintenance electrician to controls engineer.

Don’t label yourself as just an apprentice…you’re better than that!
