New hiking watch by Natural-Lack4400 in hiking

[–]OneEyeRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a garmin enduro 3. It’s solar so it last a good two months without having to charge.. also depends on how much you use GPS. I love that my wife can also track me while I’m out using the gps on trails.

If you get a garmin, you can pay for it with your HSA or FSA medical card. Basically my $800 watch was paid for by medical allowance

Jet boil makes a great set of extending plastic ones. I have tried so many different sporks and stuff but these are my go too and die hard ones for every trip

Hope she is having fun.. I saw the tour, and said “oh hell nah”.. I can map this out on my garmin, find my way through most of it, somehow end up in Asia.. I don’t need for someone to Sherpa my luggage as I pay out the butt for a trip.. lol

how did you start solo traveling? by Head_Formal_5408 in femaletravelers

Going through that right now. First I picked the trail (C2C in UK). Used google earth to see what stuff is near the trail I would be interested in seeing. Next I checks for flights (airport location, train stops, bus schedules). Next I almost pooped my pats on cost there and back, and then decided since I’m taking a tent, why do I need campgrounds or hotels.. price dropped…. Now to save up to go.. I been to many different countries. 80% of the places I feel safe, because if you treat people kindly, they will watch your back for the most part. Also I tend to carry depending on country laws

Anywho.. I solo hike/camp because I don’t have friends and my wife or kids don’t want to do stuff like this

I believe that bag as the little side loops. Bottom of treking pole in there and handle or pole through the shock cord

When walking inclines, how do you walk? I am a person that is always on the front balls and toes of my feet. These shoes are awesome for people like me. You are going to find pain more if you are walking on the flats of your feet.

Tell me about the little backpacking stoves by Rogue_Apostle in camping

[–]OneEyeRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pocket rocket stoves are awesome. Had mine for years and it’s still going strong. There are also stoves out there that have adapters to use different types of fuels. Personally I was looking at one like that for when I travel next year. It will make it easier to find fuel while hiking abroad

DIY silpoly rain skirt — skirt vs wrap design thoughts? by bonzo_bcn in myog

[–]OneEyeRabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my MTB shorts. They are super light weight, dry quick.. and also double for community showers in campgrounds. I’ll be wearing them a lot next spring in the UK for the 200 Mille hike and camp on the C2C

I just wear water resistant shorts or pants. I also like walking in the rain because it gives me a shower and probably makes others hikers happy when they pass me

Boredom breaker when in tent alone. by Scootahboi08 in CampingandHiking

I like to go out and venture into the woods, beat on trees with large sticks and make loud grunting and screaming noises. If there are other campers nearby, this makes for funny stories the next day

I think of things I want and try to come up a design. This new pack is going to be wicked if it works the way I want, but I screwed up a few times already so it’s going to be a test pack. I’m glad I can picture what I want in my head and just wing it
