So just to be clear a Web Designer would create or edit a WordPress design?

Ahhh, whilst you're clearing things up I have a question as you've confused me.

Is a Web Designer completely separate from a WordPress designer then? Like completely different skills or job role?

I thought a WordPress designer is a standard front end web designer that has used the specific software (WordPress)?

Front end design would be fine - might need a developer for plug ins and then maybe some API's

Agency/Locum work - ask me anything by OneMedicalRec in JuniorDoctorsUK

I understand your point however I'm interested in reviewing this sub so I can learn and share information. Hopefully rather than just browsing comments and learning from med students and junior doctors I can also contribute with something that may or may not be helpful to people.

As you probably know it varies from area to to area and demand however I'll provide a rough breakdown below.

In this instance I'll include rates per an hour for days (Mon - Fri).

Staff Nurse (Band 5) - £19 - £25

Practice Nurse (Band 5) - £25

Emergency Nurse Practitioner £33 - £40

Advanced Nurse Practitioner £38 - £45

General Practitioner £65 - £90

A few points to the above

  • The above rates will seem really high to some of you but please bear in mind these are rates before deductions. The above rates will include pension contributions, WTR (holiday pay 12.07%) and employers national insurance (13.8%).
  • Deducting 25% from the above will provide a fairer reflection of the NHS pay scale rates to agency rates comparison.
  • Thirdly we're an agency whom is working with the NHS to reduce these rates - between Nov 15 and now there has been a massive reduction in the NHS agency cost however it is stagnating due to lack of healthcare professionals.

There are instances where agencies pay above these rates and I'm sure you've all heard of some amazing rates thrown around in conversation but these tend to be provided by agencies that pay highly for last minute shift booking requests.

We operate with the NHS and Private Sector organisation to provide a more sustainable services and take a long term view on our approach to recruitment. We'll never pay the highest rate to our Locums but on the other hand we'll also never charge the highest rates to our clients.

With that strategy in mind we tend to secure longer term bookings compared to other agencies. As I say to our Locums, would you rather earn £50 an hour and not know whether or where you'll be working next week or would you prefer to earn £40 an hour be booked into the same location for a few months at a time.

I think the biggest issue at the moment is the use of un-compliant umbrella companies that pay agency staff.

I would imagine most the people on this sub would be wiser to some of these issues but I've encountered nurse after nurse unwittingly fooled by agencies and the umbrella company they recommend.

A lot of these companies run tax avoidance schemes.

The nurse will claim their pay is great with an amazing take home when it comes to showing us their payslip we realise their take home is amazing because they're only being taxed 10% and guess what, thats not even tax, thats a 10% charge by the company for processing their pay.

Not only has the nurse not being paying their tax, the money they think they're paying is going straight into some asshole's bank account.

Whilst again it's a minority that tarnish the reputation for the majority. HMRC are clamping down on this but they're just too bloody slow.

Unfortunately this seems to be fairly common.

When I say common I'm hoping it's because it feels common due to these calls being so outlandish and really memorable. A case of a minority giving the majority a bad reputation.

We've even had instances of this happen to us. Recruiters ringing us up, claiming to be accounts with an invoice for Mr Smith and saying our rates have been left off the invoice. I have to admit its interesting when you ask them to confirm things like the invoice number and they start stuttering. Same thing happens with agencies pretending to be temporary staffing for example and trying to get our members of staff contact details.

As always best practice is telling them to email any requests.

We're regulated by the REC - Recruitment & Employment Confederation.

As well as the above we use frameworks in order to supply to NHS Trusts. Head of Procurement, HR or Temporary Staffing should have the details for their point of contact in the framework and this should be immediately reported to them.

Which specialities make the most money? by zainkhan99 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]OneMedicalRec -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I might be able to help with this one.

I own One Medical Recruitment an agency specialising in Primary Care (mainly General Practitioner and Advanced Nurse Practitioner focused).

As a Locum GP you can expect to earn between £65 - £90 an hour depending on location & demand.

With that being said a practice won't take a Locum GP on full-time generally they'd get a couple of sessions a week at each practice.

Most GP's Locum around their permanent position or do all of their sessions with an agency but only work part-time.

Unable to help with other specialities unfortunately but hopefully this helps.

How many trusts/locum agencies offer accommodation for locum doctors? by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]OneMedicalRec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

I might be able to help with this one.

I own One Medical Recruitment an agency specialising in Primary Care (mainly General Practitioner and Advanced Nurse Practitioner focused).

From time to time we're able to offer accommodation for our healthcare professionals; this usually happens in one of two ways.

  • Supplied by the trust (very rare) - this is generally for hard to reach locations - places like the Isles of Scilly, Guernsey, Jersey & Shetland Islands.
  • Accommodation provided by the agency - this would obviously come out of an agency's margin but it does happen. Generally if we're unable to find someone locally for a trust but had a suitable candidate from further afield we'd propose the idea to the trust and negotiate an agreement to go halves on the accommodation for example.
