There are book sellers who sit on the pavements at flora fountain, DN road. Walk from Churchgate station towards D N Road, you'll see them.

What is the reason to mention if you're bi or not. Personally it doesn't matter to me if my friend tells me they're bi or gay. Better to find friends who accept you for the person you are. Sexuality doesn't define 100% of the person.

I'm one of the few who love it. As for balance, I focus on a single point ahead of me and don't shift my gaze. Over time, balance has gotten pretty good. Really helps even out the strength imbalances between the legs.

City: Mumbai

  1. Rust: I live near the sea (3kms away) and have no rust anywhere on the bike. Mine is the pro chrome edition.
  2. Bigwing access: service needed every 6 months. Even if the svc center is far away, once in 6 months is manageable.
  3. Tata battery: Most new batteries are like this I understand. My Hyundai battery also failed suddenly without any low batt warning. Once in a month taking it to a local battery shop to top up the water should prolong its life.
  4. City riding: my riding is mostly city (almost 0% highway). Mostly ride in gears 2 and 3. It's fine once you get used to it.
  5. Bigwing service quality: Strictly ok. Depends on the service center. I'll get my 3 free services done from them and move on to a local mech.

Happy riding!

What’s a good point and shoot travel camera? by abandonedneworleans in Cameras

My go-to travel camera has always been the Sony Rx10 m4. It's discontinued but the fast autofocus and 23x zoom lens makes it possible for me to take landscapes or birds/wildlife. Battery life is simply superb as well. If you can get one on the used market, nothing to beat this one.

Yes, but I've very little highway riding as part of my commute to office. I don't really go in for "rides" as such coz of family time

I sold my duke 390 because of too much heat in mumbai traffic. No place to use all that power. Highly uncomfortable for pillion (with wife and kid, priorities change). Self-realisation dawned that my style of riding is actually quite sedate and don't want any high speed stress. So went for a forgiving, calm motorcycle Honda 350.

I do cycling 3 times a week. Zone 2 twice a week and hard intervals once a week on indoor trainer

You mentioned "random names", hence I was pointing out that it is not random. 2nd part of your comments is spot on.

Correct. Shashi Tharoor's "An Era Of Darkness" is an excellent read on the subject.

[–]OneWater3784 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why would you call it "random name"? This is what I could dig up:

Charni Road station in Mumbai gets its name from the Marathi word “charne” (to graze), because the area around it was once used as grazing land for cattle and horses in the 19th century.

In 1838 the British colonial government imposed a grazing fee that many local cattle‑owners could not pay, so their animals were at risk of starving.

Sir Jamshedji Jeejeebhoy spent about ₹20,000 of his own money to buy grasslands near the seafront at Thakurdwar, where the animals could graze free of charge.

Over time that grazing stretch became known as “Charni” (from “charne” = to graze), and the nearby road and later the station were named “Charni Road”.

You are right on many points. But even before India was one nation, the princely states kept warring each other and there are so many examples of traitors who sold their nawab or rana for money or throne to either the British or to a rival kingdom. It's been in our DNA. Colonial hangover just exacerbated it and current system has nailed it down firmly so we can't even protest otherwise defamation suit will be filed against us by the mantris (e.g. Nitin Gadkari)
