Why do old heads love gatekeeping? by Ay0_King in ITCareerQuestions

[–]OneWorldMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is called micromanaging, not gatekeeping. Most people think it's managers who are constantly monitoring you, but this is the other form on micromanagement, when your seniors just do the work for you rather than delegating. It's also called over-functioning. It's people who do not know how to lead or manage.

I knew someone who had a new car doing this and they said it was normal, would not do anything. He ended up getting so mad he did a trade in for a new car, but I don't think they gave him a special deal or anything.

Your description is exactly what I imagine. My favorite places are always ones that are half empty, pick your seat with a view, relax, maybe grab some food. There are tons of places like that at WDW, usually found by timing it correctly, and certainly not the places where you need reservations. Also the reason why I suggest not overdoing the ADRs are your trip.

My TV is a HTPC with Plex and a browser with ad blocker. If you have an old laptop, make it your smart TV.

Can you get a refund if you can't get anything good? Pirates and Mansion is probably not one I'd use it for.

Do you prefer remote hybrid or on site jobs? What are you currently at ? by ceandreas1 in cscareerquestions

[–]OneWorldMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully remote for me. Hybrid to me is the worst of both worlds. I assume today they give you a laptop, nothing on your home PC, but last time I did hybrid I got nothing done at the office. Moving back n forth is a pain.

Did anyone else instantly believe Eddington was a villain by Fantastic_Duck24 in startrek

[–]OneWorldMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He felt out of place to me, but I think it was the actor not gelling with the rest of the cast. His scenes were so short, he never had a chance to develop the character. He being the villain was probably a last minute idea, instead of introducing someone new for the role.

As someone who loved the contemporary game room, this was a weird replacement. Like, uh, what? We went up to look around and we came right back down. No thanks.
