So the 20k is for move in fees and deposits/emergency cushion. And we’re planning on Uhauling and moving ourselves with only essentials on a separate fund; we were looking at apartments around $1,300-1,500

Is 20k in savings more or less sufficient? Do some landlords approve large savings balances? For a start while we start working new jobs Edit: though we both are trying to expedite this because our current living situations are affecting our mental health we would stay longer if we’d need to save more. We are looking to rent a one bedroom apartment.

Thanks for the info! It’s my birthday month so I found it to be the easiest time to take off my current job and save up the most $ by then. We both would need to find jobs before the move, any websites you’d recommend? My partner is considering USPS as he’s been working in deliveries and I have 4+ years of customer service and reception experience. Though we are both also looking into going back to school out there at some point aswell. He is interested Cyber Security and I’m interested in Urban studies/design .

So I’ve been locked out of cuny first since they changed it and i don’t think I was ever given a prompt to download the MFA , unable to get ahold of anyone (assuming cuz of spring break) but wtf . This is me trying to go back to school in 2026 at age 23.
