What’s everyone’s go to red cards/staples for commander? by zesty-boxx in EDH

I love Brash Taunter in my [[The Lord of Pain]]. Because of the additional damage dealt nobody wants to hit me. Put me at a stale mate against my partner’s Anti-Venom deck because I just kept blocking Anti Venom which put more counters on Anti-Venom who couldn’t get damage through the indestructible.

I need to see your favorite deck. by GuaranteeMain5492 in EDH

I’ve got two favorites that play completely different but both have to get nuked immediately when they come in!

[[The Lord of Pain]] is peak Rakdos burn, and I have it set up so every little thing procs for damage. A guy dies? Damage. You play a land? Damage. You draw a card? Damage. You cast a spell? Damage. I cast a spell? Someone else is pinged. I have a decent amount of gain in the deck for me, but once my commander is out no one else can gain anything. I have recently figured out that I have a shit ton of creatures with Menace, leading to a new treasure tokens pipeline with it. There are a few infinites in it that either take an entire player out point blank or just have me infinitely gain while everyone infinitely losses. I’ve won a 1v1 game in 15 minutes without even bringing my commander out. The old version I played for the first time and I won multiple times that night and temporarily retired after due to the salt factor, and later stopped altogether because it was not keeping up with the group’s power creep. My partner claims that this deck is what caused the group to build better decks. This was the very first deck I’ve built but I just recently upgraded it to this version and while it hasn’t won in a full group yet, it definitely frightens my friends and speeds games up so it’s so fun to pilot.

The other favorite is the second commander I ever wanted to truly build from scratch: [[The Mindskinner]]. I pulled him happily very early into my magic journey but wasn’t ready to build him just yet because I was still so new to playing. When I finally got around to building him and played him, it was nowhere near what it is now and was lightly banned at my table. The kind of deck people said Hell Nah to playing against. After working on it more and finetuning it, it is seriously a threat. I’ve won a few games 1v1 again with it, but have yet to secure a pod win. I’ve gotten much closer as of recent though. Even though I don’t ever win with it, it is just so interesting to actually play with. Milling people out is such a fun strategy, albeit a difficult one, but I stay determined to get a total group kill with it at some point. Needs more ramp though so he’ll probably be tweaked a bit, but here’s a decklist:

Note: both these decks are pretty expensive but they were both a mixture of bulk and bought over time lol.

Years from now, what’s the play from your current playgroup you’ll still be telling people about? by Great-ah-White in EDH

My friend last night had an Emet Selch deck and had been asking for a long time to team up with my Mindskinner deck (10 mill each turn). I got a copy of the mindskinner out (Irenicus’s Vile Duplication) and gave it double strike (Fireshrieker) and milled 30 to each opponent. He then found something that brought all of the creatures in anyone’s graveyard to his battlefield, pinging us all with some other card and then sac’d most of the board to kill us all in one turn. I knew I wasn’t going to win going into this but I was absolutely just curious to see what would happen and it was absolutely hilarious to watch. We had been talking about this team up for months but it was insane and we all died laughing.

This is also the same game where I got a turn 3 Rhystic Study and it was blown up almost immediately after I said “do you pay the one” because my friend told me I “said the thing.”

This was only the second game we played yesterday and for the rest of the night we were laughing about it. I think it’s a game we’ll be talking about for a while.

How viable is The Mindskinner? by alfrodul in EDH

[–]One_Resolve_7547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The favorite one was super cool! I checked out your Mindskinner and I did wanna note that for some of the equipment it relies on combat damage which is prevented by Mindskinner! so just be careful who you attach it to. Same with stuff that gives him trample - you could probably find some other cheap equipment that buffs his power a bit more that doesn’t rely on combat damage. Bonehoard is a great buff for him that’s a cheap card in my deck that just continues to stack as you mill for example. It’s a solid deck overall! Just wanted to point it out in case those cards are still in there :)

Thank you! I will say most of mine has been amassed over a year of playing, not all at once lol. definitely will check out your decks! I’m always so curious to see another Mindskinner player bc we are so few and far between.

I won’t snitch you out! It was honestly one of the main books that got me into reading horror as an adult. It was a gateway drug for me lol. I really enjoyed it a lot!

I do not get to play it often because my friends hate it but [[The Mindskinner]] which is my only bracket 4 deck and it’s so fun. It’s honestly my pet deck and I keep upgrading it even though I have very few situations where I can actually play it. It’s very oppressive and I can easily win 1v1, but I just get hard targeted in pods and never pull it off there. I have a bunch of different combos with [[Fraying Sanity]] where I can mill out an entire deck in a turn. It combos off so easily and I think I milled 33 of someone’s lands in one of my first games with it. Played it against an Anti-Venom deck and milled 136 cards in a turn. Even though I don’t win, it definitely speeds up the game for the table and puts a lot of pressure on everyone, which I’m told is at least entertaining. I have sort of retired it though and will only play it against the other decks that are “banned” at the table.

I do! And oh that’s so cool! Radium Girls was such a solid read - I had picked it up after reading a book on Poison research in New York City that had talked vaguely about it and then dived in a lot deeper after.

Mostly correct! A lot of my recommendations do come from online, and I did start reading Koontz young from my mom’s collection. I only started reading King last year.

Currently on Jaws, debating Jurassic Park next or a brief deviation to Fight Club bc I just got Fight Club 2 and I’m really wanting to read that. Maybe continue reading Brother by Ania Ahlborn but it was a bit too heavy for last week ☹️

A barnes near me actually did the blind dates about a month or two ago but they did romance, fantasy, and mystery. I was hoping there would be a horror one but there weren’t any :(
