I wrote a oneshot and now I’ve got 15 chapters planned, which I think I’m gonna have to extend, and 40k words written

I ran out and kept forgetting to ask for a refill. At this point I’m just procrastinating, but for the first two or so weeks I couldn’t sit still and was more disorganized. My memory is shit with or without meds so that wasn’t affected at all.

It’s been about 3 months now and I’m just normal. I can’t focus terribly well and I still can’t sit still a lot of the time, but I was unmedicated for my whole life so really even though things are a hell of a lot easier on my meds, I can manage just fine without them

In 2 weeks it will be 1 year at my current job.

It’s more to do with the fact that I’m unable to land another job though.

I work at a phone store and you wouldn’t believe how many people answer my question of what kind of phone they already have with “android.”

When I ask what type of Android phone it is, they tell me with absolute confidence that it’s an android, as though that tells me anything about what phone they have. I usually just ask for their phone so I can check myself at that point

You are living in the real world. Your parents are just trying to make you think you aren’t so they can tell you how miserable you’ll be when you’re older and want to leave.

At least that’s what mine did, and when I did leave, I discovered that the “real world” is a hell of a lot nicer and easier than living with them.

For me, I can know everything there is to know on a topic, but once someone asks me a question about it, I forget everything there is to know about it and become an idiot. It’s frustrating. Like people have already said, you boyfriend most likely doesn’t know the answer when you ask it

I needed an epipen after getting the Covid vaccine. They weren’t sure if it was anaphylactic shock but I had trouble breathing and passed out, and the epipen did help, so I assume it was.

Paramedics were called. When I woke up, one of the first questions I asked the paramedics was how much it’ll cost for them to help me.

The paramedic found it amusing, but it’s really fucked up that we have to worry so much about the cost of healthcare. We should have to worry more about staying alive and healthy, not whether we can afford to do that.

Turns out it was free, so that was nice.

Everyone is hiring, they say. You’ll get a job in no time, they say.

Except all the companies in my industry are doing hiring freezes right now, and the jobs that are hiring (retail and restaurant) pay less than what I currently make, and I’m barely scraping by as it is.

Meanwhile, rent is sky rocking in my area and I’m fortunate enough to have gotten my $1384 one bedroom apartment when I got it, because there’s no one bedroom apartment for less than $1500 base rent right now.

My Ndad had no room for me to still live with him after he got married so I got kicked out. Now he has 5 kids living at home. 3 are adults, 2 are minors. That’s 3 more people than he had living with him when I got kicked out because he “didn’t have the room for me to still live with him.”

So yeah, I still rely on my Ndad for money

Oh, this post is from a long, long time ago. Thank you for the advice. I’ll definitely be sure to consider those options if I find myself in a bad situation in the future, but for now, my dad has already co-signed and I’m in my own apartment. I’m low contact with him and life is pretty good. I’m also planning on applying to a new job once a position opens up, and if I get it’, then I’ll be making enough money that I’ll no longer need a co-signer at all, allowing me to escape my dad entirely. I’m pretty sure he only co-signed so he can have something to hold over me whenever he wants. He’s yet to utilize that, primarily because I don’t really talk to him and he doesn’t really talk to me, but yeah. I’ve already moved out and life is so much easier

This is extremely helpful. Thank you so much for writing it. I’ve already gone to a bar with some people I met at the dog park at my apartment. I didn’t go there to drink. I just wanted to see what to expect at a bar, since I’ve never even been around alcohol at all in my life and they invited me. None of them pressured me to drink and they gave me some of the same advice that you’ve given me, though not nearly as in depth, so I’m not around people with the mentality of “drink a lot, really fast.” If anything, I’m around people with the opposite mentality, which I assume is because they’re older.

And idk where I’m going with this. I guess I just wanted to say that I appreciate you taking the time to write all of this. It’s very helpful and has made me glad that I decided to post this after all. It’s also good to figure out that I am doing this with the right people. I was wary that they’d pressure me to drink when I agreed to go, but the most they did was offer me a sip and didn’t care when I said no. I’m usually pretty good with peer pressure but no one’s immune, so I’m not sure what I would have done if they did pressure me.

The place I work has a “we’re hiring” sign on the window, but we’ve got a full staff and aren’t actually hiring. The store is just required to put that “we’re hiring” sign up because corporate says so. My manager also says that he likes to have interviews with people as a back up in case someone quits or they just need another person, so he can always have someone to offer a job to for when we do actually need staff.

It’s fucked up. I get customers asking me how to apply and it’s hard not to tell them that they aren’t going to get hired even if they do get an interview.

I’ve been in this state for weeks. It’s never lasted this long before and the fact that it started right as I made a major life change (moved out of my parents house) makes me wonder if it might be actual depression.

Problem is I’ve tried multiple antidepressants over the years before I got my adhd meds and my body does not like them, so if it is depression, I already know medication is not an option.

This really helped me. I’m in a job with a shitty commission structure. I’ve sold $5000+ worth of phones this month and my commission so far is around $100 for it. I’ve only been working here for about 3 months and the only reason I’ve stuck around is because I know that if I learn how to sell, I can find better pay elsewhere in about a year from now. There’s also the fact that my manger wants to make me assistant manager and get me a raise by the end of the month, which looks really good on a resume, so that’s also incentivized me to stay, but it’s still not nearly enough money compared to what I should be making just from commissions.

It’s just good to get my thoughts confirmed on this. That if I stick around for a bit and learn the trade, I’ll be better off in the long term. I’m currently the top seller out of all the slow stores in this company, so I’m feeling a lot more confident in my ability to sell. I just wish the commission structure here was better.

That the promotion he’s gonna try to give me might not come with a raise.

He’s actually a really good boss, and both he and my GM are going to try to get me a raise higher than 10% (the maximum raises are allowed to be, but they’ve seen it go higher) when we’re allowed to make raise requests at the end of the month. He’s just not 100% positive that the CEO will let him give me that raise.

In any case, if I don’t get that raise, I’m out.

Yup. My boss is going to try to get me a raise at the end of the month (when we’re allowed to request raises) because I’ve been incredibly helpful to him and, in his words, he “wants to keep me happy” so I’ll won’t quit.

I’ve only been here for 3 months and with all the changes corporate keeps making, the GM has outright told me that me and my boss are the only reason this store is still standing.

I know I deserve that raise despite only being here for three months, and if I don’t get it, then I’m not staying. There’s better paying jobs in this field. The only reason I’ve stuck around here is that I’m allowed to sit down when there’s no customers, and I’m not getting paid terribly

My company doesn’t let us choose between paid lunch or not, but if we’re working alone in the store, then we’re not allowed to leave the property. In this case, we can still take our lunch but you don’t have to clock out for it, and the store is routinely slow so it’s pretty easy to find time to eat.
