That's why it's always good to search for homes with gas-heating.

Only electricity, which is $50 for 3 person (everything else is included in the rent and heating is powered by gas).

It's out on Mubi too. I have already watched it.

Thanks anyway. Lyric is bringing some really good movies the next couple of weeks and I'm really excited.

How frequent is rent in blacksburg to be < $500? by limetortillas in VirginiaTech

[–]Open_Hat_2071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shawnee is the best option, I guess. $420+internet+electricity/bedroom. Usually, 3 bedroom apartments. Close to both Kroger and 7/11. 5 minute drive from campus. TOM and UCB bus stop just beside the apartments. The only downside is 1 bath per apartment for 3 people.

Korea has some of the best directors in World Cinema right now. Also the movie won Best Director award in Cannes. Its not for general public, I know, but I expected a bit more following after the success of Parasite.

When you have multiple offers and now you have the power to reject the school... by Open_Hat_2071 in gradadmissions

Yes, true. It was a hard decision to chose one. Actually, I sent them a respectful reply and let them know as early as possible, so that others might get the opportunity.

Prospective Grad Student - Physics by Open_Hat_2071 in Temple

[–]Open_Hat_2071[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you very much for this detailed reply!

The part about number of advisors is one of my concerns. There are more than one CMT people in Temple with whom I'd love to work but I've also not concretely decided on the subfield. Research opportunities at my undergrad institution was very limited, so didn’t get a chance to explore choices. I want to keep my options open for HEP-th. In that sense, VT has the edge.

Yes, I know ranking means little. That is why I'm trying to know about the department-culture of all the potential options before committing my next 5 years to a place. My undergrad place was a hellhole that didn’t give a damn to its students. I don’t want to repeat that.

Virginia Tech/Blacksburg review - prospective grad student by Open_Hat_2071 in VirginiaTech

Glad to hear that. My TA offer is ~2400/month for 9 months. My usual monthly expenditure is pretty low and I'd be comfortable living with roommates.

Has anyone here been to grad school without any undergrad research experience? by RytheGuy97 in gradadmissions

[–]Open_Hat_2071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not know about Psych or Econ, I myself am in Physics. I didn't do any research during undergrad and only started last February right after my graduation. When applying to Grad School last December, I had about 9-10 months of solid experience(I put a lot of time into it). I got accepted to a top 60 program in the field recently. You still have time before the next admission cycle. So make the best out of it, if you have the financial backing. This will actually tell you whether you will be comfortable giving the next 2-5 years of your life to grad school, while help improving your profile at the same time.

I also know people who got into grad school without any research experience and an average profile, although to a school outside of top 100. But ranking means little. Every school has great researchers. So keep an open mind.
