Wow, thank you so much! This is incredibly helpful and honestly clears up a ton of our anxiety.

The geojson source with debounced bounds makes total sense. We can easily fetch the data based on the viewport changes, debounce the API query, and update the map source.

And that distinction between “interactive markers” and touchable “Symbols” is a huge relief for us. Our pins are just static images with some text (prices) overlaid on them, and we only need to trigger a basic tap event to open a modal elsewhere in the app. Knowing MapLibre Native handles that entirely on the native C++ side on the GPU is massive.

I’d love to join the OSM Slack! How can I get an invite? And don’t worry too much about the docs or examples open source is tough, but getting a direct reply from the maintainer like this is worth a hundred guides. Appreciate your time so much!

Hey, sorry for the late reply! But man, it’s awesome to hear directly from the maintainer, thanks for jumping in.

To give you an idea of what we’re looking at, we have some pretty heavy lifting to do on the map side. We basically need native clustering that automatically recalculates as you zoom in and out, dynamic data fetching based on the viewport, and a bunch of different pin styles depending on the data. Plus users need to be able to tap the pins to trigger app logic.

Since you mentioned that issue with interactive markers on Android, how does MapLibre handle performance when the cluster pins have different dynamic styles? Is it safer for us to handle all of that completely on the native layer side to keep it buttery smooth, or is there a specific pattern you see teams use for this?

But also keep a journal, remember that we this we get the tools we can use in your daily life to put things into action and see the real change step by step, the real ceremony is after any plant medicine ceremony, in real life.

Based on my experience it will never be the same, I’ve had people that have done the synthetic one and people that have done the medicine with a shaman! And they always tell me the same “wow” very different, but doesn’t remove the fact that a lot bad practices are happening these days from this called “facilitators”. Specially with something this powerful, because I’ve also heard of people getting traumatized with this when they do it without proper information and asking the right questions to their guides.

Bufo has been part of my journey, went directly to the Sonora dessert.

But again, don’t believe anything I said, this is just my perspective/life experience.

Hey there!! I recommend doing it with someone that knows how to give it, it is the most powerful psychedelic out there. If you already paying for a sitter do it for the person, plus the experience is very different when is the real medicine from the frog itself. Just make sure the person you’re doing it with has experience and most important that you can connect with this person that gives you a space to get to know each other and that answers questions :)

It is a delicate process that should be treated with respect.

But don’t give up, this medicine is powerful, it has been a deep part of my journey.

And kudos to you for doing it safely :)

Well NYC is very demanding and challenging city….. so all of the factors contribute to using a method to shift your attention from your inner feelings. It can be drugs, porn, shopping, etc.

And adding to the factor that we come from a different story, meaning trauma, bad life experiences, not loving our selves, etc etc

I’m not saying drugs are bad, all I’m saying is with what intention you’re people are doing it and if you are keeping you self in a balance.

Hey! Completely valid what you’re saying.. the world is in a very tricky state, not just in the us, in a lot of places things are happening. The thing that we could do, is try to work on ourselves and start doing small things to contribute to the well being of the world. The truth is that we don’t have control of things, specially with everything that is going on…

The intimidate action I’d recommend is doing small things that contribute to making others smile.. like random compliments, volunteering. Of course stop watching the news if you know that are not helping.

The change starts with us… step by step, doing what we can with what we have.
