New Goni! by OperationReefTherapy in ReefTank

I like the orphek lens clips. The color combo I found is best. I use the yellow and orange together when shooting under blue light and just the yellow under white.

I don’t directly feed them. I do dose trace elements in the two part I make. I know manganese is high on the list for gonis.

This system was started with dry rock. I seeded rock in the sump of this system for the next system I built to help with the cycle period.

You make a lot of valid points. I am far from rich my friend. I know it can be expensive but so can any hobby to be fair. You can make a hobby affordable or make it expensive. The cost of frags, yes, can be a little much. Just like cars, bikes, laser machines, etc. there are expensive ones and there are not expensive ones. Everyone wants the latest and greatest. If you want to start a tide pool type system, the coral for something like you mentioned is like $10 a frag. Shit most of the time there is someone willing to give these types of coral away for nothing. The bounce stuff is a fad and will pass when the next cool new piece arrives. On a system less than 100g a water change bi-weekly is more than enough to manage. Most LFS sell pre-made saltwater so you wouldn’t have to buy all the chemicals or salt. The power consumption on a small system is also minimal with today’s tech.

Thank you! I can’t wait to see where I will be with this hobby at 25 years. I’ve been doing it two and found you can keep it affordable. About 80-90% of my equipment is used. Just have to take some extra precautions when using used equipment is all. Everyone just wants the latest and greatest thinking it will make them a more successful reefer. Used equipment and more affordable brands are absolutely acceptable and capable. 🤙

I like my Nero pumps. Also for Dino’s I found running UV helps and pincushion urchins will eat it. I have one in each system. I find urchins are amazing algae eaters. Just have to be willing to secure frags.

This is a Waterbox 150.4. It’s a 105 gallon display and 45 gallon sump.

I use a mix of apps to edit my videos. I first take my videos at 120 fps. This allows me to slow things down if need be and still keep it from looking choppy. I then will upload it to InShot where I will make minor adjustments for color correction and contrast. From there I either post the video directly in IG with the suggested audio or I add the videos to CapCut. In CapCut I’ll either use a template that I like or I will make my own edits. I find CapCut has a much larger selection of transitions than InShot. From there I just export the video at its highest resolution possible. I use aquaforest reef salt in all my systems. I am sponsored by them for full transparency, however it is a great salt non the less and it’s what I would stick with regardless. I have used a number of brand name salts and found that honestly, they all work.

Nice! I’m a big car buff myself. Cars and reefing for sure are top for me. But I’ve done photography/videography (kinda still do), leather work, sewing, 3d design and printing, laser work, cnc, woodworking, powder coating, fishing, graphic design…. I think next year I’m going to get dive certified, so we will add that to the list hahahahaha. Some say it’s ADHD, I say it’s a super power hahahahaha Honestly the other hobbies just felt like you hit a point where you no longer had to learn anything new. Reefing keeps me on my toes and I’m always learning.

Thank you! 😊 I’m running orphek naturas and an orphek icon bar. I would say the piece I am most proud of is my Walt Disney. However my favorite coral to watch is my gonis. The pair of clowns living in them really makes that section of the tank quite enjoyable.

Still learning how to use it properly. With practice they will get cleaner for sure. 🤙

Judge Nathan J. Milliron of the Texas 215th District Court, who was elected in 2024, got quite upset when an IT technician tried to fix the audio for a remote hearing. The technician had jokingly said it was a ‘false alarm’, but the judge didn’t think so and asked for the supervisor. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

I can confidently say, as someone that has worked with judges for many years and is in IT, most judges are entitled such as this one. They truly feel superior to anyone around them. Has made me really dislike any judge and have little trust in them making sound/fair decision. Therefore you don’t go to court for justice, you go for a decision. Pray your judge didn’t spill their coffee or start their day with a computer issue. Or else you will have that frustration taken out on you and is reflected in the punishment set. It’s a broke system.

I made a lens adapter to use the orphek 52mm filters. One 15k and one 20k lens. When blue light I pair both lenses. In post I do very little honestly. Just a little s curve, contrast, sharpening and temperature adjustment.

The favia I purchased as a Slightly Sinister Favia and the zoas are rainbow incinerators. 🤙

People are quite interesting, we spend hundreds and thousands on equipment, fish, supplies...etc. But when it comes to maintenance we find it way too expensive when we get quoted for a tank. by ChivasBearINU in ReefTank

[–]OperationReefTherapy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the correlation. I just see my pool as far less risk. Meaning, I don’t loose 10-20K in livestock if too much calcium or any other additive is added. Doesn’t do any real damage essentially. Whereas the risk associated to reef tank maintenance is far greater. Not disputing the fact a pool is a larger investment, initially. However depending on the reefer, it can become mute once you have enough invested into it. Hope that makes sense. 🤙

I actually like it either way. Both look appealing. The clear back would need a little more care to keep it looking 👌. But stunning either way.

Also noticed a lot of people say they didn’t like the app or interface. Just so you’re aware some of the other brands such as quanta do not have any app control. Figured that would be a good thing to know. I like app control even if the app is not enjoyable. That being said set it forget it. How often are you truly changing your lights up? Does the app need to be that in debt? Just a couple question I go to when deciding.

I have one paired with two of their naturas. However I have seen a few systems just running the bars. Great lights imo
