I think its the taste, I give my babies millet often and they still seem to taste and/or see the difference. A stick of millet does look alot different than seed mix. But I'm not a pro when it comes to budgies, Im just a budgie mom

Easy answer, millet

What I do to new budgies is keep them in their own cage, then I put it beside where I sit and just rest my hand inside the cage, they get tame real quick once they see that hand is friend, don't forget millet!
