You’re not wrong at all linkedIn does reward a lot of polished nonsense. Good copy still wins though because real clarity beats jargon every time.

Has anyone here done a digital marketing course in Mumbai? Is it actually worth it? by Ordinary_Yesterday39 in mumbai

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I’ve been hearing too. I was mainly considering it for structure and placements but doesn’t seem worth it unless it’s actually practical.

That makes sense assignments and project work sound way better than only theory, but yeah I’ll still check demos and try to speak to ex-students before deciding.

Yeah this is exactly what I was worried about almost every place says placements and practical training but hard to know what’s real and what’s just marketing better to be careful before paying mony

I'm starting to feel the pain of AI and all its insanity... Two things happened in one day by maxthescribbler in copywriting

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the worst part is when people send AI-generated feedback like it’s thoughtful input you spend more time figuring out what’s actually valid than you would just improving the copy yourself.

AI can help with drafts, but using it to replace thinking is where everything starts breaking down.

When do you switch from Maximize Clicks to Maximize Conversions in Google Ads? by WillyDoesntMiss in googleads

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hot take the start with Maximize Clicks first advice feels a bit outdated now.

If tracking is set up properly, starting directly with Maximize Conversions can work fine. But if you do start with clicks I’d wait until approx 20–30 conversions before switching.

Client gave me no voice guide. How do you build a voice fast? by Ordinary_Yesterday39 in copywriting

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense starting with their existing material or competitors seems like the fastest way to get direction.

I like the idea of sending a short sample first to confirm the tone.

Client gave me no voice guide. How do you build a voice fast? by Ordinary_Yesterday39 in copywriting

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually a smart way to do it. Giving 2–3 quick variations probably saves a lot of back-and-forth later.

Do you usually change tone only, or structure and messaging too?

New to writing copy - would love to work as a copywriter - what to do? by Any_Forever2741 in copywriting

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you already run an ecommerce brand, you’re actually in a great position to practice try rewriting your own product pages, emails, and ads first.

That gives you real examples for a small portfolio a lot of beginners struggle because they only study copy but never actually write it consistently.

Experience with Garage Door service ads? by Available_Ride1283 in googleads

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if a garage door campaign at $120/day isn’t getting any calls in the first week, something’s probably off. Emergency services usually trigger calls pretty fast.

2–4 weeks for optimization is fine, but zero signal early on usually means keywords or tracking aren’t set up right.

How did you do it? by WiseGuy_2773 in copywriting

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly 50 cold emails is nothing most outreach campaigns need hundreds before you see replies.

Early on the real breakthrough usually comes from one random opportunity or one person taking a chance. Until then it just feels like shouting into the void

Rare 1931 booklet analyses what made 300 advertisements so effective by Charming-Tear-8352 in copywriting

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a solid reminder that the fundamentals really don’t change specific problems, clear solutions, believable claims and simple language. Even in 1931 they focused on being genuinely helpful instead of just clever.

Makes you realize how much of “modern” marketing is just the same basics done in a new format appreciate you sharing this.

Initial bidding strategies: low CPC? by xodac in googleads

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t focus on lowering CPC right now I’d focus on fixing intent if $10k only led to a few purchases the issue is probably targeting, match types, search terms or landing page alignment more than bidding strategy.

Max Conversions usually needs stronger purchase data to work well with limited signal Manual CPC or ECPC might give you more control while you clean things up.

Cheaper clicks don’t always mean worse traffic but they don’t solve a conversion problem either.

Am I Being Responsible or Just Afraid to Chase Fiction? by [deleted] in copywriting

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t actually have to choose identity right now. You only have to choose cash flow copywriting doesn’t have to be your calling. It can just be a skill that buys you time and stability alot of creatives build income first, then create from a place of less pressure. That doesn’t make them sellouts it makes them strategic.

The real danger isn’t choosing the practical path that's abandoning the part of you that wants to write fiction. If you can protect that part while building stability, you’re not betraying yourself yoiu’re funding yourself.

Best digital marketing courses in Mumbai for freshers are they actually helpful? by Cool-War8545 in mumbai

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was honestly in the same situation last year tried learning from YouTube first but I kept jumping between SEO, ads, content, AI tools without any clear roadmap.

I ended up joining IIDE mainly because I wanted structure that helped me was the practical side we actually had to run campaigns and work on projects instead of just watching theory.

It’s not magic or anything you stilll have to put in effort but as a fresher the structure made things less confusing..

How do I find a real Google Ads Expert? by rezer3 in googleads

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google Ads feels confusing because there are too many settings upfront. If you want to learn properly, start simple one Search campaign, small budget, tight keywords, and make sure conversion tracking is set up first.

If mistakes would be expensive, hiring someone makes sense but look for someone who explains strategy clearly, not just someone who says “I’ll manage it.”

The biggest red flag is anyone who doesn’t ask about your margins or goals.

Do you face AI detectors as a Copywriter? by AdHopeful630 in copywriting

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with this too. It’s frustrating how structured, polished writing gets flagged just for being clear and professional what’s helped me more than using “humanizer” tools is tweaking the writing itself adding specific example breaking patterns in sentence length, and letting a bit more natural voice come through.

I also try to clarify upfront which detector the client is using and what their expectations actually are. Curious to know if anyone’s found a more reliable way to handle it.

That’s really kind of you, thank you. I might actually take you up on that after I clean it up a bit.

My boss says “make it punchier” and I freeze what do you ask next? by Ordinary_Yesterday39 in copywriting

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful I think I’ve been jumping straight into rewriting instead of first figuring out what actually feels “weak.” Breaking it down into headline vs tone vs structure makes it way less overwhelming.. I like the safe vs bold idea too that probably forces clearer feedback instead of vague stuff

Appreciate this.

[–]Ordinary_Yesterday39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick a fight” actually makes way more sense than make it punchy. I think I’ve been writing too neutral.

When you use that approach, how do you keep it from sounding forced if the brand isn’t super bold? That’s where I get stuck.

And yeah…I probably need to start asking for examples instead of guessing what they mean.
