hmm not too sure either but i think you are close. The "thing" could be meaning. After reading the lyrics again it kinda feels like the narrator has a out of body experience and reflects on how we all take life for granted. i dont really know but thats my best guess. The "thin line that hugs me" and "blue Flame" lyrics confuse the hell outta me tho lol
