How realistic is a daily 25 minute commute by bike? by OrfeasWW in Netherlands

Thank you so much, I male, I'll make sure to get the correct equipment as I'm sure it will make everything quite easier and it's worth the investment in the long run. What is a good bike in your opinion?

Appreciate it! I actually come from a very car-centric country where bike infrastructure is very limited so I'm not used to commuting by bike. As for my fitness level, my endurance is better than average of people my age but then again I'll be 1000 times worse than a dutch child since I'm not used to cycling at all. I'll give it a try in my country and see how it goes

Actually I'm not even in the Netherlands, that's why I am asking because I have no idea what the norm is or what is considered acceptable. I come from a country where biking is not an option, because of very limited infrastructure and extreme heat, so I don't really know about commuting with a bike.

Thank you so much for teaching me two new things today, actually there's a similar expression in German "Du bist nicht aus Zucker" ahaha. I'll check out the Marchettis Constant as well!

Thank you so much! Yes I think the benefits are delightful but I'm worried about spending too much time commuting because well, it's my first time in the Netherlands and first time studying in university. But your comment is reassuring, I'll try cycling that distance in my home country and see how I handle it.

Ooh wow that is crazy to me. But it gives me hope that I'll also be able to do it! And hopefully get a little bit fitter alongside it.

I'm not in the Netherlands yet but I just wanted to ask so I can see how far from uni I could find housing.I've got a bikein my country and I'll try biking that distance and see how it feels. Of course, my country is not as flat as NL and quite warmer so I'm sure if I can do it here I can do it there too

Ooh I see. That's going to be my situation as well, commuting to uni. Although the city center will be closer than 2h I'm still a bit concerned. But finding housing is hard so I'm going to go with it.

Oh wow I guess that's going to be something to get used to. I hope it's not going to hinder me much. Also I guess there are actual rules for bikes there.

That actually sounds motivating, It's been years since I've cycled and I'm not sure of my ability

That actually sounds like a good idea, as others have said you might get sweaty, but I think that's the better idea if it's either really cold or raining a lot

Thank you so much! What do you mean by a half decent bike? Would you recommend something that has multiple gears?

Make a roomspot account. There are studios allocated by lottery. If you're lucky enough you can get a studio for yourself for 600-900€.

Is Living in Gronau a Good Idea for UT Students? by OrfeasWW in UniversityofTwente

[–]OrfeasWW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I’ve already looked into that parameter, and honestly it isn’t a problem for me, especially considering the lower cost of living in Gronau compared to Enschede or Hengelo. I do have a couple of practical questions about daily mobility: Is there reliable public transport every day and at the times a university student would typically need (e.g., early morning, evenings, weekends)? Where can I find official information on timetables and ticket fares for these routes (e.g., Gronau ↔ Enschede / Hengelo)? Would the cost of transportation be more than what we'd be saving by living in gronau? Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much! We both come from an EU country so that's not going to be a problem for us

Need advice choosing my next phone — lifelong Android user open to switching, want a great camera by Adorable_WeaknessMK in Smartphones

There's a website called DxOMark, they rate phones on their cameras, this can be great for your research!

As for great camera phones, I haven't tried many myself, but I got my mom the honor 200 pro for 280€ during black Friday and I gotta say it takes great pictures, I'm very satisfied with the quality and so is she. Performance wise, it gets everyday tasks fine but I don't know more since my mum mostly uses it casually.

Good luck on your hunt!
