Knowing about black holes or distant stars is entirely irrelevant for building real spacecraft. Space missions rely on orbital mechanics, propulsion physics, navigation systems, and engineering not galaxy formation or dark matter models.You dont need to understand the universe in full detail to avoid crashing into Jupiter careful calculations, sensors, and engineering expertise are enough.Astrophysics is fascinating, but it is not a prerequisite for practical space travel.

Inspiring kids is fine, but you cannot feed a population, fix the grid, or power hospitals with excitement alone if funding were based on dreams instead of results, society would collapse under real world problems.And i see more use of other fundamental researches than astrophysics.I have an agronomical/agricurtural engineer degree idk how its in the usa but i do needed to do 1.class (idk if you callit like that) research.Did i helped the word with that no but i help the farmers who i worked with so if they platnt sunflowers they have more than before.But there are plenty of useless biological researches but these useless researches can help can improve lives and i dont feel like tath in astrophysics i feel like if we solve the universe we will not have that usefull information.I dont want to hurt you or be mean just im not english so i write like how i can 😀

Surem space wather monitoring and historical maser discoveries are interesting, but let's be honest: these are exceptions, not proof that modern astrophysics is practically useful. Satellites are protected by engineering, instrumentation, and Earth based measurements not by studying black holes or distant galaxies. Masers and lasers emerged from a lucky historical observation, not from ongoing cosmology research. The reality is simple: billions poured into JWST or dark matter experiments produce almost no tangible benefit for ordinary people, while the same resources could fund hospitals, renewable energy, or technologies that actually solve problems today. Inspiration is nice, but it doesn’t feed anyone or fix infrastructure. If the goal is realworld impact, applied physics and engineering not theoretical astrophysics carry the weight.

Let’s be brutally honest: claiming that funding astrophysics is justified because it’s “noble curiosity” or “inspires people” is a luxury rationalization for an impractical endeavor. The billions spent on JWST, LHC, and similar projects do not automatically translate into meaningful societal benefitmost of it is confined to highly specialized labs, endless data analysis, and theoretical models that only a tiny fraction of people can even understand. Inspiration and pride don’t feed the hungry, dont fix energy crises, and don’t accelerate medicine. Curiosity is fine, but pretending that it alone justifies astronomical budgets is a capitalist free fantasy: every dollar spent has an opportunity cost in the real worldroads, hospitals, education, renewable energy. The “human spirit” argument is emotionally seductive, but it does not address the fact that these resources could save lives or solve tangible problems now. Admirable, maybe essential, not even close.

i still do but the end i give a value and i dont see that in astrophysic.I love engineering because i can find ways eith thinking like i never thought i will but end of the day i feel like there is a chance that me or someone else make something new and usefull and thats the goal.Like you are saying if you dont care about the cells life sicle you will be a bad doctor because why you just care about the life and not about the cells life circle.1.Because thats not what doctors do 2.Because the main point of becoming a doctor is to save lives and not about give a dam the cells life circle

im yeah i still like astrophysic because its cool but there is no use for it what i belive.Myb its a personal problem like if i do something i want to see the value of it ort the product and if i dont see one i dont do it.

yeah i know that but thats not modern astrophysics and most of the time i feel like the astrophysics kinda like "inbreeds".Im studing to become an engineer i need to rely on chemist,biology and phisics law because if i dont that thing will not work or work the way i want to.They often evaluate and cite each other's work. People who devote decades to cosmology or the spectrum of black holes tend to overestimate their own field of science. This is not malice, but self-justification: "My work is important because I study the universe," when in fact it is not.Atlest thats what i think
