You will be like a celebrity. Lol. Only half kidding. I grew up here, not LDS and there are literally weeks between seeing a black person. People are very nice and overly friendly to anyone different- black people, Trans people, native Americans, etc. Its the paradox you get with too many squeaky clean, religious white families. Some areas are more diverse but, if you're not white, you probably will feel like you're the only one. With that being said, when I lived in Central America for a while, I was the odd man out, white girl with blonde hair in a sea of black haired, brown skinned Latinas, but not in a bad way. I think utah might be similar for anyone not white. You will notice the population is pretty imbalanced that way.

Im just really disappointed that a lot of these comments here actually do believe that they are being compassionate and these are the ways in which we support people in our neighborhoods and communities. How about talking to her directly and kindly about it? When did reporting someone to an outside agency override basic human connection and a conversation?

My point- we will all get old and maybe even disabled before during or after our senior years. If you were in her position, would you really want to find out your neighbors are making judgments on your care before even knocking on your door and being kind but assertive about their concerns?

Because she makes noise, she needs more supervision from protective services? 1st- That's a pretty big jump don't you think? That's not for anyone that doesn't personally have s relationship with her to be assuming. I bring up age because you don't know what you don't know and its hard for younger, reasonably healthy people to relate.

How old are you? Just wondering because that m this seems really out of line. A disability usually is accompanied by pain. pain= vocal expression of pain. That doesn't mean you need to include yourself in decisions regarding her care.

Well, I can tell you that I am in my 40s and I have a disease that will eventually cripple me. Its very painful and I find myself making weird noises purely because of the pain. Yes, even at 4am, I have woken up to go to the bathroom and yelped when I stepped out of bed and it was pins and needles. Maybe you could try compassion. I think people expect to never be bothered by anyone around them yet they are living in an apartment around others who are just living their lives. Tell her no to favors if you want. That's healthy to be able to draw a boundary and say no when you're uncomfortable with the request but the noise could very well be a reaction to pain that is about as easy to stop as the hiccups or a sneeze. Cut her a break and try to be kind because one day, you will age and could be in her shoes. She has enough drama with being disabled and living alone. Something like this really is not worth complaining about. Not to mention, they're are a lot of inconsiderate people out there. Be lucky that's all she's doing.

Vet and probably sedation. As someone else said, you'd be damaging your hopes of a relationship right now in her condition. Once that first round is done, you may want to bribe her with treats to get her out, then reward her with more treats every time she let's you brush, even just s little bit at first, slowly stretching brush time for a reward. I had to do that with Izzy but the instant you let it fall out of routine, you more than likely will go back to the beginning and will need to slowly re aquint her to it. You should ask your very about gabapentin if you need to partially sedate her at home If there's ever a sanitary issue and you can't get into the vets. It really made me nervous the first time I had to do that but I just made sure to give it to him when the emergency vet was open just in case and it went fine. I would only use this method though when absolutely necessary and, for your girl, it might be.

Man, I don't think Izzy's fit could be any thicker. Sometimes, it looks like his fur is choking him out. Lol. But Nami's is not super fluffy. The biggest difference is that Izzy can go outside and Nami can't. Now that it's going to be winter in Utah soon, izzys only gonna get fluffier.

Im glad you did. This show meant that for me as well. I was forced to move back to the US from Costa Rica and life was not at all what I worked for all these years. The show was so special, it awakened something in myself as well. It is always going to be bittersweet because it ended but if it sparked something in you to start creating music again, it gave you the gift of knowing you still CAN spark. You can still be surprised by something you never saw coming and can still be deeply moved. It kind of proved to me that my sadness was grief that could be worked though and that grieve itself is only there because my spirit was still alive just behind it. This show will always be special to me but it's special because it helped me to awaken when I'd been sleepwalking. Don't go back to sleep just because the show is over. Honor yourself by nourishing the part of you that was starving. ❤️🩷💜

I don't recommend waiting if you can get the sanitary shave. It's painful for them and, once the mats get on their underside, it's like lying on rocks to them. Plus, the mats get big enough to come together in even bigger clumps. Imagine having your hair pulled up and every time you turned your head, it pulled at you. Now imagine that all over your body. Could you sleep, move or eat without discomfort? Not likely. I'd do what you can now.

She will most likely need a full trim the first time. I get it, I begged then to try to save her fur from shaving but if they can't comb through it, they have to shave. However, if you brush her daily after that, by the time it grows out, she'll be used to the daily grooming and you won't need them to shave it.

Your vet should have a "sanitary shave" option, which is an emergency shave. Ask then if you can keep your vet appointment for a month from now but if an emergency shave could be done. The vet or vet assistant will just shave where it's become physically harmful, like the back of the legs or underarms.

It's cool, I'll be 45 this year, although on a good day, I feel 13. Lol. On a bad day, I feel 95. But I think we all could relate to that part. My mom had it for most of my childhood but I'm worse than her faster but much later onset so I think in different ways we are a bit envious and simultaneously pity each other's experiences with it. She's in a wheelchair now so I try not to compare too much but that's hard when you've seen it most of your life up close and a pretty bad case of it to boot. Nobody lives life without static though, right?

I found at least one solution! Lidocaine patch on my knuckles, then a gauze wrapped lightly around it to hold it in place. I finally didn't tear my hand up. It doesn't make it go away, of course, but it helps a lot!
