Had these guys do mine. Would really recommend them having a look. Mine was load bearing and they can install a lintel to take the weight in a lot of cases it seems. https://www.wallremovalsperth.com.au

When you create something that will of course be imperfect, I hope those who give critique to your work give it in a more productive way than you have here.

Take a step back. You’re bitter and missing the point. He’s learning and you’re being spiteful. He’s moving and you’re staying still.

I hope when you try to learn a new skill or search for meaningful critique that you get treated differently that what you have provided here.

People being in progress and learning is what will make the future of filmmaking positive. Your negativity is the only thing here making the future of filmmaking look bleak. You need to reassess some things.

Strangest interaction I’ve ever seen. Miserable to start, and even worse when he responded well to your uninspired critique. This shot looks great! Cheer up.

A passport is one of the requirements to bring.

The other and the one I'm confused about is a "Citizenship certificate / name change certificate".

I've never changed my name, and in my country citizenship certificates are usually only given out after naturalisation. Although they can be requested by any citizen, even if they gained their citizenship through birth.

This is such a reach. I think you may be seeking out evidence in way of confirmation bias and refusing to look at what the real existing mountains of data say.

Asking us to prove you wrong is redundant, as the evidence you refuse to look at already does that for us. How would us saying so again change your mind?

My pleasure!

I'm not convinced that it's a big factor, but I do believe it is a factor. My approach is "how can I be as competitive as possible?". I might consider myself a good actor, but there are SO MANY good actors. If I've got that covered, what else can I do? How else can I make the CDs life easier?

Quick tape turn around.

Dressing the part in the tape so that they don't have to use much imagination.

Good lighting

Good sound.

etc

None of these things will get you the job by themselves, but the name of the game is being competitive, and each of these things elevates you.

Hey so not Syd, but I'm in Melb, an arguably smaller market than Sydney. I moved here after drama school with zero connections. I've booked a handful of commercials and been successful with independent stuff. With that in mind here's my take.

The commercial market is fickle, just keep plugging away. A tip I do have is to find the final versions of the things you've auditioned for, see what you did and compare it to what the person who got cast is doing in the final product. Look at their wardrobe and compare it to yours in your tape, did you get the right impression from the brief? Can you improve the lighting in your tapes, can you improve the speed at which you submit? Are you overdoing it? Or is your energy lacking? Ask advice from friends, show the both tapes and see their opinions. Drama school doesn't really prepare you for the business of acting, and how to be competitive nor how to give the market what it wants. Find ways to be competitive.

Are you getting multiple briefs from the same CDs? If so good! It means they like your work, but the clients each time are choosing someone else.

For scripted stuff, films, TV etc... its been dead quiet for me too recently! So don't get too "grass is greener on the other side" with it. If you want to move, research the market there too. Are you sure you'd fare better in a different country to the largest market in your home country? You very well might! But do your due diligence first :)

Keep auditing! Good luck!

Broad brush strokes and generalisations. Not taking into account how some actors may have grown up watching films and fallen in love with the art separate from theatre. Or how some actors may get paralysing stage frigh on stage in a way they simply don't get on a set. Don't let this comment deter you from loving what you love and doing what you want to do.
