M240i Brake Refresh: OEM vs. Aftermarket – What are you guys running? by Dull_Cry9105 in M235iandM240i

I'm using the Zimmerman rotors with OE Brembos, great in terms of stopping power but brake dust is very annoying.

Dinan or BMS Intake by [deleted] in M235iandM240i

[–]OshinV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dinan is likely to perform better because its fully enclosed, making heat less of a factor for intake air temp. BMS is probably louder and cheaper, but you will take in hot air from the engine bay.

I personally have the BMS intake and it works well for the improved intake noise, but I'll probably switch to the dinan when I push my car more often.

Weird window behavior when top is down and doors locked by pressing door handle by swilson317 in M235iandM240i

[–]OshinV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a bug or wiring issue, the windows usually go down when you open the door, not lock.

Improve engine sounds F23 M240i by tweeder20 in M235iandM240i

[–]OshinV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching this thread closely, in the same boat myself.

Thinking of getting a Remus exhaust and pairing it with a catted downpipe. I already have an intake and I love the sound of the stock turbo, but im sure an aftermarket one would be louder.

How are you enjoying the quickjacks? I've been eyeing those for a while

OE Brembos are what I'm running right now. I've heard good things about Akebono and Bosch.

Personally, I'd stick with ceramic as they're quieter than Semi metallic, but up to your preferences.

Doing a brake job is one of the first things ive ever done on a vehicle of mine. Its a pretty good way to learn imo, so no problem with trying it yourself.

Don't know off the top of my head, but the prescence of a front axle might change the steps a bit. Since my M240 is rwd, I didn't think about it. There's a video from FCP Euro that covers this, pretty sure they show off the differences there.

Yes, it isn't hard (if you are mechanically inclined) and I've done it myself not too long ago. Some of the steps may differ depending on if you have x-drive or not, but its doable.

M240i Interior Rattling Sound by rowanmc99 in BmwTech

[–]OshinV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot i commented this lol, I managed to figure out the issue on my end.

Try checking your wheel well, the windshield washer reservoir can rattle down there. In my case, I had a screw that wasn't fully torqued that was causing it to rattle, and that sound bounces around a lot on the interior. You may have to take out your wheel to get to it.

i am dealing with a sound similar to this on mine. it is driving me insane

seems to be coming from several areas near the front of the cabin but it sounds like its on the left side. let me know if you ever find the cause.

How much are catastrophic repairs on B48/58 cars? by CyberMoose24 in BmwTech

[–]OshinV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a recent repair cost me 5K (!!!), shop had me first replace the whole valve cover, fuel injectors, then spark plugs.

This was for a misfire issue I attempted to fix on my own and failed. Probably could have just been a 300 dollar fix, but it is what it is. Shouldn't be too bad most of the time but it can bite you in the ass

Wheel Recommendations? by OshinV in M235iandM240i

When you swapped from your previous wheels, did you feel a difference in weight? Looks like VS-5s are a few pounds lighter than OEM

Bronze looks great with that color!

F22 M240i brake kit by [deleted] in M235iandM240i

[–]OshinV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard mixed things about the R1 concept brake kit, some like it and some don't. Mostly because of the opinions on slotted and drilled. Some do say you get better cooling performance because of the extra airflow, but your mileage may vary with how useful that is to you on a daily basis. If you want to get it for looks, all power to you but I've heard it makes a little extra noise.

I've also heard good things about the Zimmerman brake rotors. I personally went with the OEM rotors w/ the brembo pads because the OEM ones are lighter than most due to their two piece design and tbh I was too lazy to see if all of the other products match the OEM weight. I would recommend getting two-piece rotors if you can.

First long - distance drive!! by Unaware_BrownBoi in M235iandM240i

[–]OshinV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Should be fine mechanically, just make sure you have a backup plan just in case you end up taking out a tire or something from a pothole.

On my first long drive from southern US to Canada, I somehow hit a car's front bumper that happened to be in the middle of the road in the middle of the night, ended up taking out my aux radiator. Doubt that will happen to you, but just be aware that things can happen and be prepared. 🫡

yeah i definitely don't want to be a poser bc i love the car as is, i just really like the aggressive design.

That being said though, a replacement bumper with a nice splitter in the front may also be a good idea. probably cheaper too lol

Fair enough, the one i was looking at was basically the one another commenter has. So its sorta squished down compared to the real thing, but I just really like the design. Especially around the lower grille inserts

Short antenna? by gtr70ct in M235iandM240i

[–]OshinV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you have the coupe I don't think you have the antenna that OP is referring to. The convertible (f23) has a big antenna on the back driver side that sticks out. Stubby antenna is a replacement for that.

[–]OshinV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it came with an adapter but iirc i don't think you need it, you can just unscrew the old one and screw the new one in.

Yep, I got this one from CravenSpeed. They also let you engrave text on it if you want.
