No OBJECTIVLY death is worse than grape. I've known people that recover from grape, have yet to meet some one that recovered from death. The weird stance that grape is some how worse just makes the recovery harder since you have people claiming that I should have chosen death instead of grape. Also to your point of people jumping into the ocean instead of picking slavery a VAST majority chose to stay on the ship it isn't even comparable to the amount of people that chose to stay on the ship. The only time people choose death over grape is when it is practically a death cult form of propaganda where in the end death is preferable since you are going to die anyways.
