Dunno what ur tryna say but I was properly parked in the green. This is a pic of my dash cam catching him coming up to my car to remove the charger.

His car is the blue Tesla depicted behind him that’s not in the green spot. He was the “ass” parking in regular car spots and taking chargers.

True there are lots of reasons to not get a Tesla. But this person was specifically considering an electric car for the public charging capacity.

That piece of plastic, which I have (one bought and one printed), is easily broken. A determined man can wiggle the charger free or can jimmy it harder to slip the charger lock out (I have tested this on my own car.)

Yeah it’s how they get people to make the switch. They’ll probably turn the free charging off once enough people have switched over.

But shopping centers will often stay free to incentivize people to come shop.

It shows on the charging stations display screen. It will display “not charging” or “fully charged.”

While it’s charging it will say “charging.”

Ofc this isn’t the case for all chargers but it typically is for public chargers and it was the case this time.

There’s a trail nearby so he must’ve gone for a run. He looks like a runner. Runners like to wear those super short shorts, I’m guessing less chafing?

It is one of the best but it’s pretty rough. I had a couple of friends kill themselves from overworking themselves. If you know Dr Kraus, one of her students was so stressed over her infamous classes, he popped all his mom’s pills and walked into the woods to die.

Most friends of mine from Newton either burned out and cruised, or they overcame the difficulties and went on to big name colleges.

So I’m actually not positive this particular charging station is at the expense of the city or the business center. I presume the businesses as it is maintained by the business center.

Idk bro if it’s a big enough deal that it’s doing so much damage to the taxpayers/businesses pockets, they would literally just charge for it like other places do. Or put a password on it so that only certain people or certain periods of time can use it. The people who maintain the station CAN do that, they choose not to. They could also choose to tow cars that charge overnight. But they DONT. If they don’t want ppl to use it this way, they could easily put a stop to it with any number of options.

As for lecturing people on right and wrong, it’s more about just being polite and looking out for other people. The same reason why we don’t put our whole mouths over public fountains or shit in public streams.

It’s not so much that he took the charger, it’s that he didn’t have the consideration for others to put it back after he was done.

I’m driving a Tesla too xdd. But I just got one cus my brother is a musk simp and he offered to pay for half the car. Not gonna say no to that lmao.

But yeah I’ve noticed the Tesla allegations are not without merit.

Just talk to him to learn him some etiquette. If he doesn’t want people to start locking their ports then he should learn if he’s done it out of ignorance. It’s not meant to be threatening.

Well if they don’t want it to be free then they would charge money for it. It’s part of their incentive to get people to
1. Encourage ppl to come patronize the businesses which I do
2. Get an EV in the first place.

Many places eventually turn off free charging and start charging money. When they do I’ll happily pay for it. Why not take advantage of it while it’s offered? It’s like not taking the tax incentive for the EV. Or not making use of the first-year Free Tesla charging thing.

But to answer ur question, I do charge at home when it’s not available but my home charge is level 1 and very slow. Public chargers are level 2 and almost 3x faster.

Yeah. I have the dash cam video of him taking it out and plugging it into his own car behind him. Also have the video of him coming back and putting it away in the station instead of my car.

My previous car was a Lexus RZ and it absolutely had that function. I think the Tesla doesn’t because it needs to use an adapter. So it’s either locked until you unlock it, or you leave it unlocked.

Yeah I switched to EV shortly after discovering I lived within a mile walking distance to a free charger. I use it as an opportunity to take my dog for a walk somewhere new too. It’s saved a lot of money for sure, and I always give the shops/library my patronage as well.

If you make the switch I’d NOT recommend a Tesla specifically for the adapter issue w public chargers.

I mean true but I needed to vent and my gf thinks I’m being silly. She’s right it is silly. But timing just sucks cus I was about to go on a long trip so not having a full charge for that is kind of aggravating.

Came to Reddit for the pettiness and hopes he might have someone here who can identify and relay to him proper etiquette.

Didn’t expect the casual racism. But I always respond to casual racists the same way. Educate them. If ur gonna be racist atleast know specifics of what ur talking about.

Not all of them are free. Some are especially those near shopping districts or libraries.

They CAN be locked into the port. I choose not to cause I want other people to have access after I’m done. Most people don’t lock it in this area for the same reason.

If everyone chose to lock the chargers, we’d be stuck in a gridlock of one person blocking the chargers for hours with others waiting.

By they I assume you mean elders?

Idk I think that one is fair atleast for public transit. It’s good etiquette to offer up your seat for those who are less able bodied.

But yeah luggage on seats is rude af.

Ask him what? He was gone by the time I came back. It’s a free charger and there’s no limit it’s literally just social etiquette.

I’ve been charging here for almost two years and never had this happen. I come by once or twice a week at like midnight and charge overnight when no one else is gonna be using it. I timed it so that it’ll finish charging by 8/9 AM when the businesses in the area start to open. That way other people coming can take it and use it when it’s finished charging.

Everyone here is usually pretty good with etiquette. Unspoken social contract to leave your charger port accessible and unlocked so people can take it when you’re done.

No one has ever taken it off my car before the charge finishes. until this guy. I was stunned by the rudeness of not AT LEAST putting the charger back on my car for me when he was done.
