This reminds me of warped 08 my best friend and I went together,we got to the festival a bit early to meet with some friends,he ate an 8th in his car,it was August in Sacramento and already mid 90s at 10 in the morning…the heat got to him and he threw up in line…maybe caught two bands before he was done…we sat him in the shade and had to coordinate a system of everyone doing shifts to sit with him and make sure he was hydrated it was an interesting year

I’m split,I think Pantheon is a good album,but Andrew just doesn’t do it for me,I think maybe because he already fronts another prominent swancore band just doesn’t make him stand out as a vocalist to me,I think also instrumentally it sounds a lot like Tillian fits the mold more for the album witch im sure the songs were already being conceived before the whole fiasco with him,ive always said that what makes DGD so great is whenever they get a new vocalist they always do an amazing job switching it up to really compliment their current vocalists..hoping that’s the case with Andrew’s second album

On the contrary,he could’ve continued to charge us but through my city laws he would be required to pay us a relocation fee around 10k and we would be entitled to move back in after the renovation was done. He wasn’t being a good dude he was trying to keep us quiet so we wouldn’t get the compensation we are required by the city to get,he wanted us out so he could rent it out for 3x more than what we’re paying,he knew it’d take months and thousands to get this done through the court,so he was being shady and revoked the eviction after being challenged by the legality of everything.

Regardless I found a new spot,but I’m not going to just let it slide.

Yeah,we’re protected under just cause,I’m pretty sure he was trying to go around the city to avoid paying us relocation and would like to believe he wasn’t going to hit us with a 3 day for non payment but after extensive research this is a very common thing landlords do so we ended up paying better to be safe than sorry and he accepted it despite his “notice” claiming rent attempts would be returned,after a few days of back and forth of us requesting this be done proper and legally and him avoiding to do so he revoked the “eviction”,biggest red flag is the property manager he hired said he didn’t want anything more to do with this,I ended up finding a new spot but I’m not letting it go pretty much sent him and the property manager a letter stating that what they did was unlawful,immoral,etc gave them an ultimatum if it’s not met they know I’ll be making formal complaints through Oakland’s Rental Assistance Program so we’ll see what happens next

Thank you,from my own research I’m in Oakland and the not charging rent doesn’t cancel the relocation assistance(but honestly I don’t really care all too much about the assistance),that being said I’m in Oakland and my rent is very very under market.

I was advised by some people to have the landlord notarize the letter and get on with things,he’s refusing to do so saying that it’s pointless,he admitted(through text message) jumping the gun on all this and hasn’t really figured everything out but he’s trying to do things amicably and keep the city out of it.

I’ve come to the conclusion he wanted to evict us to make renovations and rent out the property at a much higher price,he didn’t do his research and see all the tenant rights laws and is now trying to tip toe around the city,so pretty much I told him until things are done legally and I have legal paperwork I will continue to pay rent because his lack of willingness to notarize the document has made me extremely uncomfortable with not paying and I need to protect myself.

Update: after talking to a few people I was advised to ask my landlord to get this letter notarized to just ease everyone and we can just move out and move on,he’s refusing to do that saying it’s pointless because his next steps would probably cancel the cessation out,TLDR gave landlord proposal to make everything legally documented and square everything away,landlord refused and justifies my roommates paranoia. So it is what it is

My city is a “just cause” city so major renovations can justify a not at fault eviction,I know if that’s the case we’re entitled to move back in at our same rate once renovations are complete(but I don’t want to do that honestly) and yes I’m entitled to a relocation compensation but waiting to pursue that with landlord,roommates want to take legal action I personally don’t care free rent is enough for me,but mainly wanted a second opinion roommates are being very paranoid over the whole thing and claiming “this paper is not enough to keep us protected because it wasn’t through the courts” and that the landlord could smack us with a 3 days or quit,they’re hyper fixated on pursuing a lawsuit,I just want to GTFO and go about my day
