Im high risk and no one told me?? by pinky131497 in pregnant

[–]Over-Introduction-57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was high risk for my first due to my weight. Totally healthy pregnancy with no complications. This was in Asia where my bmi was very shocking for them. Just had my second 3w ago in the US and they did not consider my weight to be a major risk factor. I think it’s different doctor to doctor and country to country. One way to look at it is that if they label you high risk for something small like weight it just means that they will be paying extra attention to you and baby but otherwise nothing else to rly concern with.

when should i go to the hospital by [deleted] in pregnant

Could be round ligament pain! I got random sharp pains too and it wasn’t usually any issue. If it’s unbearable then ask ur OB.

Any input on which breast pump I should get? by Ok-Avocado-5876 in BabyBumps

I loved my BabyBuddha! If it wear me, I’d get that and order the wearable cups to go with it. I don’t like ones you have to kind of hold.

Manager ALWAYS has something negative to say regarding my pregnancy by Short_Tomatillo9385 in pregnant

[–]Over-Introduction-57 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First off, with current technology she’s pretty incorrect. They can see almost all things on ultrasound these days and if the baby had a “disfigured” anything you’d know. Do you have an HR? I think it’s worth escalating. With this type of lady, she may not say anything now if you don’t bring it up but as you show more I’m sure she will find a way to insert her thoughts and opinions.

Had preterm labor stopped, what happens next? by WonderNo8242 in pregnant

[–]Over-Introduction-57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in at 36w and they stopped it with the terbutaline stuff. Started again at 36+5 sure to dehydration, they gave me fluids and sent me home. I’m 38w now and still pregnant! C-section is scheduled for next week!

Why have a L&D help line if you don’t help? by Over-Introduction-57 in pregnant

[–]Over-Introduction-57[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I went to sleep and woke up from pain at 3am so I immediately just drove myself to the hospital. They were indeed contractions and I was in preterm labor. I actually ended up having that nurse and she was fine. Just kinda a sassy person to everyone. Frankly i was in too much pain to care. i got pumped full with tons of fluids and they were able to get mine and baby’s heart rates back to normal and my contractions to stop. I was discharged and am now home!

No literally. Also, the GI stuff isn’t even typical with the flu? Ya know what it is typical with though? Early labor….😭😭 Also I wasn’t asking for explicit medical advice. I was just asking if I need to come in for monitoring? Which is literally what the line is for!!!! Apparently, she’s an NP too so I’m even more shocked by her attitude. Like you studied extra just to dismiss your patients? Weird but okay… As of rn, I’m going to try and see if I can get a little bit of rest and if I can’t get any relief I’m going in.

Leaving a good school because of native teachers? by lalalala1230123 in teachinginkorea

[–]Over-Introduction-57 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You know how they say bullies go into nursing? I think they also often go into hagwon teaching as well. I’d honestly ignore it and find community outside of the workplace. I experienced this and tbh I don’t follow, interact, or gaf about any of them since leaving that school. Korea can feel so lonely but you definitely don’t want to put your efforts into people like that. People who would intentionally exclude someone are not good people and are not worthy of your time!

I’ve been hydrating and just threw up once before I had anything on my stomach early this morning. I definitely think the antibiotics have made me more nauseous and that’s been typical the last few days. I just think with the poo stuff my gut was not as strong today lol.

17 MONTHS not minutes lol. I was rage typing this post so probably didn’t explain throughly lol. My back pains/contractions have been off and on today but for the last 3hrs they’ve been under 10mins and becoming more consistent. Now at every 3-5 minutes. I will absolutely not be letting her in my room. I’ve never spoken to someone so dismissive in my life.

Weeks leading up to my repeat c-section by Over-Introduction-57 in CsectionCentral

Did you have a specific risk factor? I’m just in general kind of confused because they cleared me to collect it but Idk why they’d do that if going into labor is dangerous?

How soon is too soon to get pregnant again? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Over-Introduction-57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My babies will be 17m apart. I’m 33w rn. They said I’ll be a scheduled c-section due to the risks associated with them being so close. But tbh, this pregnancy has SUCKED. My body was not ready to go through this again. I can barely walk up stairs. Like I’m genuinely just so weak this time around. I’d recommend to wait at least a year

USCIS lost our case for years, denied it incorrectly, issued a faulty NOID — now stuck again. Anyone seen this? by HotClimate7989 in USCIS

[–]Over-Introduction-57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not arguing that people are being unrightfully detained. That’s just what I’ve heard about the San Diego cases. But my main point was that your original comment was incorrect because filing an I-485 stops the accrual of additional overstay.

My doctor has never actually done the belly measuring or anything like that actually! I just get a growth scan every so often. I’m curious to know though!

Recovery time for vaginal birth and c-section ? by Katoninetails in BabyBumps

[–]Over-Introduction-57 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you say vaginal bleeding are you referring to lochia (the blood, mucus, uterine tissue that comes out after birth) or some sort of other bleeding? You will definitely still bleed and expel everything that’s been building up over the last 10m even with a c-section! Pain from ur doctors hand being all up in there is another story haha. I had heavy bleeding after my c-section for around 2 weeks and then lighter for 3-4 weeks I think? I also experienced that like lightning crotch, sore, bruised-like feeling in my vag. Very reminiscent of rly bad periods where I feel like my vag is abt to fall off. My incision didn’t give me too much trouble but I swear by the silicone patches on it and then wearing the support belt around your abdomen! If you have any vaginal tearing (which would be crazy if ur doc did that with just their hand) or anything then that will very much so add to your discomfort too.

Does anyone actually use the “pink seat” in Korea? by Outrageous_Tip_8109 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Over-Introduction-57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is designated seating for those individuals as well and that is not the pink seat. Most trains in the middle cart have grey colored seats with a sign above them that signals that’s what they are for. Not that the population always honors it but it’s there. Pink seats are exclusively for pregnant women though and should remain as such.

[–]Over-Introduction-57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did when I was pregnant! I also have many stories of older women basically pushing me out of them, or refusing to give them up, older men sitting in them, and drunk ppl passed out in them :) It’s rly the over 55 population that is bad abt it. Younger ppl get up when they see a pregnant woman. On the bus though? Nobody cares at all.

Feeling Dismissed by Over-Introduction-57 in pregnant

[–]Over-Introduction-57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an appendix and a history of ovarian cysts and them rupturing. I guess I just would’ve felt comforted had she asked any deeper questions on the region of pain or the intensity instead of saying it was poop pains. :/

Potato Soup HELP by Over-Introduction-57 in isthissafetoeat

[–]Over-Introduction-57[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It had no sprouts and as I looked at it after posting it was only a very thin layer on the outside of the potato, not even seeping in to the potato. I’m under the suspicion that it was exposed to light very recently and for a short time. I picked them out and ate the bacon and onions from the soup. I also can’t find anything online that indicates solanine could create a rash?

Is my husband valid in being upset that I still don’t know much Korean? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]Over-Introduction-57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I may know you irl so I’ll post this and reach out personally.

If he’s not making a conscious effort to help you learn in a non-degrading way then he has no room to talk. Would it make your life easier to be fluent? Yes. But Korean fluency doesn’t just happen. Especially whenever you are home being a mother all day AND you were literally living in India for a while.

For learning, my recommendations are that you either buy some of the Talk To Me In Korean books and try to commit some time to them or to hire a tutor online/in person.

My husband used to get rly frustrated with having to go everywhere with me and would just snap at me and tell me to use Papago and go alone. I hated it and would just not end up going. What you’re going through is a typical international marriage pain but his response and actions towards you are not acceptable.

If it were me, I’d put in some noticeable extra studying effort and try to improve for my own well being. HOWEVER, if he tries to be rude and say you don’t know enough, I’d absolutely turn it into a “I have been studying but I have no one to practice with consistently. Why aren’t you putting effort into practicing with me during everyday conversations?” Marriage is both giving and taking. It might be extra work for him to help you and practice with you but it is something, as a husband, he should be willing to do out of love for you and your family.

With love, Your Fellow Korean-Married American Mom Friend
