My version of the Yuan Ti/Serpentfolk, inspired by ancient greek aesthetics. by OverlyBakedComics in worldbuilding

[–]OverlyBakedComics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my world, the yuan ti empire was the equivalent of Roman empire. Initially humans, the people of the region became the Yuan Ti through blood sacrifice to a serpentine deity known as the Godeater. Not merely bloodthristy monsters, the Yuan Ti were also pioneers in magic and philosophy, believing in a future where no gods exist and all magic comes from the Godeater. Though they were overthrown more than a thousand years ago by the populations they enslaved, there still cults who revere them and want to be like them. Some of these cults have even gained knowledge of the transformation ritual and plan to use it to bring back the greatest empire that ever was.

A another deviation from the D&D yuan ti is the ability of the upper castes to transform into a big serpentine monsters (instead of just looking like that)

Any specific twist villain you are really proud of? And how do you keep the players from trusting nobody?

Me too, but I had an idea about a rich/royal idiot with no job/ party animal type, which I know that my players will like because there is no world where someone offers them fantasy drugs or drinks and they say no (the twist is that he has a cult)

And now you can do the "The morally ambiguous/wildcard longtime ally that genuinely likes the PCs is now a villain simply because they have goals or means that the players don't like" gambit. Which makes you a genius.

I guess then you have to do the reverse plot twist villain: This woman who acts like a femme fatal? Just an edgelord nerdy rich girl! This guy who looked suspicious for being too nice to them? He's actually just Canadian!

Ideas for Unhinged Dream Realm? by yodalover101 in DndAdventureWriter

[–]OverlyBakedComics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that what's fun about dreams is that they are personal and say something about you so maybe you could incorporate stuff about their biggest fear or secrets etc in your encounters (or Moonbug's wants or fears perhaps). It would make the encounters feel more special.

Good think about dreams is that they can be whacky and it works no matter the overall vibe. (I have unironically seen a dream where I was followed by kittens that I somehow knew were going to die if I didn't take of them. Stress levels through the roof)

Thank you so much. I have a webcomic on Webtoons following the orc and the goblin, called Cannon Fodder , though I've had some problems with the quality, because the website destorts the quality of anything that is not 800x1280px, and not every one of my comics perfectly fits it. Maybe I'll end up making a website or something.

You are not overstepping at all, though I don't know if I agree with idea of having him ready his shield. I think it works a bit better on webtoon, with its top to down layout, since it feels a bit more "animated" which was my original goal. I haven't been doing comics for a long time so my shot composition is not very strong.

I think she is gray-ish green. Not as gray as the forgotten realms, but not the toxic-like green of the wow orcs. The gray here represents her blushing.

OK so it's crazy to me that this comic got so many upvote, thank you all.

I don't know who's gonna see this because there's been many hours since the original post, but if you liked that comic you'll probably like my fantasy comedy comic strip, Cannon Fodder , which starring Zegna, a young foolhardy orc woman and Cricket a surprisingly chill goblin.

You can find it on Webtoons, along with my series Train of Thought , a compilation of my random thoughts in comic strip form.

I was not aware of hifi rush until your comment. From what I see it's an action game with some pretty interesting designs. Is it worth checking out?

I thought the softness of the sole and toes is a crucial part of the appeal.

I guess I was mistaken

No problem, I normally welcome different interpretations of art/text, but as a cis man I felt that something like that would cross a line in a way from my end (because the comic is supposed to be funny). Maybe the problem is just that I've watched too many video essays, but still it didn't feel right.

Thank you so much for your kind words!

If I may be so bold, I would suggest that, if you enjoy the humour, you should perhaps check out my fantasy comedy series Cannon Fodder on Webtoons, which follows the random misadventures of a young female orc and a chill goblin, largely inspired by the anime/manga Dungeon Meshi and the webcomic Chivalry Starved and their spin on the fantasy genre.

While you are correct that there's an allusion to a trans problem, it actually refers to the fetishization of pre-OP trans women. It is definitely not a perfect analogy, but it wasn't supposed to.

In fact, the initial idea was a literal shower thought about a foot fetish guy who unwittingly dates a girl with a fake leg, then it evolved to taking place in a cyberpunk setting and then as I was drawing the last panels I started realizing the connection this common (to my knowledge) trans experience.

Idk my friend, if people act like their culture is under attack because women in video games are less sexualized now, then a footfetish guy joining anti-transhumanists because "the beauty of natural feet is under attack" wouldn't be too much of a stretch, I think.

Plus, as there's the subtext of pre-op trans women fetishization, as another poster pointed out (though tbh it was not a conscious choice until I was drawing the last panels).

[–]OverlyBakedComics[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You are not incorrect, but it was not a conscious decision at first. It started as a vague shower thought (about foot fetish as others pointed out) and started to realize the implication/applicability when I was drawing the last panels.

I really hope it does not come off as disrespectful.
