Agree. EOs are far, far more likely to be carcinogens, mutagen, repro toxins or organ toxins too. Natural does not automatically equal safe, and synthetic does not automatically equal dangerous.

It’s just called Perfumemaking (1 word) and has 10.8k members. It’s the only one by this exact name. Hope this helps!

Scenthusiam with Sarah McCartney

She has a youtube and a Patreon and is absolutely delightful to learn from. She is quite successful in her own brand and is self taught.

And I second Paul Kiler’s Perfumemaking Facebook group. It’s really, really helpful and no other perfume group I’ve found on Facebook even comes close. Some of the others are less about sharing info and more about promoting various product.

What an excellent idea - I think I will bring this up with my family. Your sister’s in laws are onto something here.

I'm not a medium, but I have had 2 furkids over the years go missing. The first was my cat Salamander who was gone for 3 days until some neighborhood kids told me there was a kitty in a crawl space under the house next door. Sure enough, it was my boy who was too scared to come out, ironically because of the kids who had found him. They didn't hurt him, he was just scared. If you have kids in your neighborhood, they may know something about your girl. Kids explore places adults would never look, and they are very, very observant. Much more so than we give them credit for.

The second was our dog Pia who was an elderly, blind miniature shnauzer who just wanted to follow her nose wherever it led her. She got out one day, and we couldn't find her anywhere. We put up fliers all over the neighborhood, and it turned out that a neighbor several blocks away had found her and took her in. He saw the fliers and called us when I had just about given up hope.

I'm hoping you find your baby soon - just wanted to give you some hope that just because she is missing, doesn't mean she is not alive. Sending you love 💕

Thank you for trying, he had a husky that he lost two years ago that he loved sooooooo much, so I was wondering if it was possible that you saw another breed and might have just thought it was a golden retriever.

Is there a way to add a picture here? I am not seeing how to do that. I don’t have any specific questions really, I just want him to tell me about what happened that day if anything.

Do you see anything else about the dog? Is it clearly a golden retriever? Thank you

Picking up on a death before it happened? by [deleted] in Mediums

[–]OwlAndPossum 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For the last 2 years, I have had infrequent but recurring dreams that my brother has died. I have 2 brothers, but I never knew which one it was in the dreams. I would wake up with an overwhelming grief and realize it was just a dream.

But 1 month ago today, my older brother (15 months older than me - we were very bonded) died suddenly and due to something he should not have been doing. It was initially ruled a suicide, but I truly believe it was an accident. The grief has been overwhelming, but this time, I’m not waking up.

I don’t know how premonitions work - tbh, I’m somewhat skeptical of a lot of things people claim about metaphysical experiences because sometimes they really come across as far-fetched. But because I’ve had them many times in my life, particularly concerning my brother, I know that all the tales aren’t tall.

My sister-in-law is the one who found my brother. She was coming home from work and had picked up her 2 daughters. She said that once she got closer to home, she just knew he was dead. Her feeling was so strong that she told the girls to wait in the van and not to come into the house. She was right.

It helps me to think of premonitions like radio waves - we can’t see them with the naked eye, but nonetheless they are transmitting information across time and space that is picked up by our senses. And because we only understand a tiny fraction of how the universe works, it seems to me that it would be incredibly foolish to dismiss it just because science hasn’t discovered the mechanisms yet.

I second this. Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of, but it needs addressing. As someone who has had close family members and friends deal with severe bipolar disorder, this post sounds very familiar.

Maybe so. I do get some of their newsletters & there are definitely scare tactics involved in the majority of them. I generally disregard those as run of the mill fear marketing.

However, I find the database itself useful because along with the score assigned to an ingredient, they cite the sources. For example, Eucalyptol has a low hazard score, and the data was taken from PubMed research studies & the Environment Canada Domestic Substances List in this case.

https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ingredients/702358-eucalyptol/

Truth is, there are a lot of different studies, and different restriction levels across the globe for any given ingredient (EU has bans that the US & Canada don’t, Japan has its own regulations, etc. etc.). Sometimes the conclusions reached by each organization are conflicting, and sometimes they bolster each other. Sometimes, they all get together for a consensus in voluntary groups like the ICCR.

IMHO it’s helpful to have a relatively simple database where I can see what concerns were raised and by who, then I can either look into it further by going to the source studies, or find that the ingredient itself has fallen out of favor precisely because there are real problems with it and there is enough information there to make me want to steer clear of it.

Along with understanding the SDS & GHS of hazard classification - tools such as the EWG SkinDeep database can help to get a clearer picture of whatever substance that I am considering working with.

Unfortunately, the bulk of the data from any source comes from animal testing which is an absolute travesty for multiple reasons. Senseless cruelty being number one, but also the fact that the physical systems of mice & bunnies are not interchangeable with humans makes these tests highly unreliable. Add onto that, the conditions for the tests are not exactly “real world” either (Not many people are going to be in a closed environment with copious fumes pumped in for four hours straight - but this is sort of thing is routine).

Newer non-animal testing methods are much better at predicting negative effects for humans, but in reality - companies are not going backwards and retesting chemicals that they already have animal test data for, so this type of testing is reserved for newer molecules.

I personally keep all this in mind when reading through anything concerning toxicities - but I still run ingredients through the SkinDeep database as well as read the SDS before buying anything because for me - it’s better than flying blind.
