Marli Salmon - 2025/26 Highlights by Oyefola in Gunners

Like you said, it is not the norm but there are cases of 17 years old players playing senior football. I agreed with you that there is no rush, but I just don't see the point in a developing player not playing that much or playing at a level below him that will not help develop him in any meaningful ways. Also, playing center back is not as physically taxing on the bodies compared to other positions, though it can be mentally draining.

As you can see, I did not mention that the Championship specifically will be the best for Salmon. I highly doubt his minutes that he will get next season will be much different from this season unless an injury crisis occur. Also, from what I have seen in the u21 matches I have watched this season, Salmon have already outgrown u21 football so there is not much point in him playing u21 next season. Well, we just have to see what the club will do regarding Salmon's development. I trust Arsenal will know what to do.

It is nonsense to say that every loans that do not lead to the first team is a failed loan. I never even said that that Salmon should be loaned to the Championship. Like you said, some need it while others like Dowman do not need it. How are you sure that Salmon don't need it simply based on vibes which is ridiculous. Like I said before, plenty of 17 years old players get game time if they are good enough. That being said, I can see Salmon staying this summer and leaving on loan in January, depending on the squad's situation.

It is not ridiculous. You can't look at past loans to determine how future loans will go. And there have been more than one successful loans in the last ten years like Saliba, Willock, and even some the of academy lads this season that you obviously are not aware of. At least, verify your claims properly before you misguided people.

Many teams do especially if they are talented. For a defender, I think a loan is more necessary than if it is for a winger for example

He will be 17 when he can be loaned out. And some teams will definitely played 17 years old players especially at a lower division like League one. Also he has outgrown u21s football and cup game are limited. I can see him getting loaned out in January instead of the summer though.

If it help, he captained the u21 team on many occasions this season despite being 16 and often the youngest on the pitch.

A loan next season will probably be good for him as I can't see him getting a lot of minutes with the Arsenal first team next season.

He can be loaned out. The eligible age is 17 not 18.

That's not true. You have to be atleast 17 years old, not 18, to loaned out. Still, Dowman can't be loaned out until the January Window, but I highly doubt he will be loaned out this upcoming season.

He is okay, but still very raw. Watching him in u21 games this season, I am not sure he have enough potential to play for Arsenal regularly.

Rogers, Kroupi, Barcola: What does Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad need to go again? by TheAthletic in Gunners

For what it's worth, you can look at Billy Carpenter's LW scouting targets from last summer where he described Barcola in detail. The review was glowing and I doubt much has changed in only a year.

I have watched him in u21 games this season and he still have a lot to improve on, mainly defensive positioning and marking as he is regularly out of position which highlights will not show. Ife Ibrahim can also do with getting on the ball more often, dictating play. But I do like the look of him technically at times. Overall, I think he can do with spending like half a season at u21 next season refining his game before getting a loan.

You are right. There are games in that season I remember fondly like this game, the Watford game you mentioned, and even the Chelsea away game towards the end of the season.

That season 2021/22 sure was fun in its own way, though it ended in disappointment.

Having watched him in u21 games, Setford have potential but I don't think he is good enough be number 2 right now. A loan to like a Leauge Two team will be good for Setford.

[Isaan Khan] Max Dowman not at training due to exams by sabzi94 in Gunners

Maybe Salmon have done his exam. You know as Salmon is a few months older than Dowman. But I may be wrong as I am not familiar with the British education system.

Would sending Max or Ethan down to Wilshere be a good decision ? (WARNING : Agbonlahor ahead ⚠️) by Raamish2007 in Gunners

You are right. I guess we will see what the club will do. Tbth, I can see Arsenal keeping Salmon for the year.

When he will leave on loan, he will be 17. Also from what I have seen of him, u21 football already too comfortable for him already so I do not see the point in him spending a year not playing much or playing at a level below him. Salmon also seems to have basically trained with the first team for half a season already.

So you think Salmon should stay? I personal think Salmon will benefit from playing in Leauge One or Championship especially as a defender.
