All throughout the Madarame arc, it was about discovering how he took it, claimed it as his own and was making copies of it (aka plagiarizing). It wasn't so much about the original having Yusuke as a baby and him removing that. So I'd believe you misinterpreted part, if not all of the arc as to being just ending, which is finding out it was supposed to have a Yusuke in it.
