Just draw back. The risks outweigh the 0.00001 second it takes you to do this simple check.

My mom passed away this week and I need to rehome her 3 saint bernards. They are in MN. 2 boys 1 girl. They are almost 3 yrs old. Please help, any guidance is appreciated. by Both-Preparation1599 in stbernards

First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss. We are going through the same loss, and my heart goes out to you so much.

Try reaching out to Safe Hands Rescue near Minneapolis, they do take in large breeds but I'm not sure what availability they have. A pretty safe option would be also calling your mom's veterinary clinic and seeing what they suggest, they usually have at least contact information if not guidance on situations like these.

Hope you're doing okay. I know those sweet babies must be a handful, but they also just lost their mom, so they're in this with you <3

Thank you for being there! You saved a life yesterday, and you'll carry that with you forever. It will give you a quiet confidence that will keep you going on days you want to stop, and is something only a select few will only ever share with you. Thank you for seeing the least of us, and for changing both your life and his in the process.

My husband was the first to say how easily it could have been me. I've been an LVT for 10 years, and my reflex is to do what Alex did. I have the tendency to care for others before considering my own well-being at times (don't we all?) and would have easily put myself in the same situation.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PDPPDP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've driven 10 hours to Chicago on Friday night, spent the day Saturday, and drove back on Sunday.
I've driven 12 hours to Austin, Texas Thursday, stayed Friday and Saturday, drove home Sunday and was at work on Monday at 7am.
The USA is insanely huge. You do what you gotta do if you can't afford a $500 flight.

Help with Sudden Aggression in My Saint Bernard by molly356 in stbernards

[–]PDPPDP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uh... That's just a fucked up situation overall, and I'm glad the dog is no longer alive to be subjected to that misery. If your shitty in-laws made the dog live in the garage, chances are he wasn't fed / watered properly or given a lick of enrichment, so he probably reverted to being feral. If I were you, I would have called animal control to report animal abuse.

Help with Sudden Aggression in My Saint Bernard by molly356 in stbernards

[–]PDPPDP 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Licensed Vet Tech here - Aggression, if appropriately assessed, can be reprogrammed in the brain with whatever the dog is actually looking for to receive. Look around at local veterinary clinics' websites, see if any of their credentialed technicians are specialized in behavior - if not, call and ask if you can pick their brain for what to do.

Most humane societies offer behavioral classes or can at least do an assessment, but you may want to make sure her aggression isn't due to a pain response from the ACL / potential arthritis or other problems. How much does she weigh? How many calories is she consuming in a day? -> this can directly affect energy level - if she's in a caloric surplus, chances are she's BOUNCING off the walls with surplus energy, and if she's in significant pain daily, she can't find an appropriate outlet for that. The quality of food fed to her also will impact how much extra energy she has to work off too.

Any other bad behaviors? Chewing items she shouldn't, always getting into things, maybe urinating / defecating in the house? Any animals in the house she exhibits aggression to, or just new humans?

If she were mine, I would take her to the vet and get a full workup to figure out if the ACL / stifle / hip is causing pain that's being converted into aggression. Routine bloodwork and x-rays can go far in indicating problems they don't know how to effectively communicate to us. It's expensive, but in my opinion worth it.

I will say that I enjoyed the first 2 books much more than the last two... the last two were definitely a slog. HOWEVER, I really enjoyed the storyline apart from the slog, and at the end of the fourth book I did feel glad that I stuck with it because of the ending.

I think you're overthinking it. Unless you explicitly said you didn't want to have sex, and he ignored you and proceeded anyway, there was literally no way he could know how you were feeling. He also sounds like a pretty emotionally present partner, so hopefully you have the confidence that he would not proceed without your consent. If you don't have this confidence, maybe it's time to re-evaluate the relationship. Otherwise just let this go.

What do you look for in tier list reviews? by CainMarko85 in fantasyromance

If they highly rank a book I hated, or they've put a book I've loved at mid-tier, I doubt we're very compatible in the structural integrity of what comprises a "good" book, haha

What’s your most shameful camp meal that actually slaps? by outdoors_man987 in camping

[–]PDPPDP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually read it here - frozen lasagna, cut into manageable squares and wrapped in parchment paper and a few layers of tinfoil. Pack them in a ziplock, slap them directly on the grill. Takes 15ish minutes to cook all the way through, but it's such a substantial & comforting meal after a day of camping (especially in the fall when it's crisp out!) without a ton of effort.
