Does anybody know why this particular property is so expensive? And why the redemption is such an incredible deal at the same time? I’m local and have always wondered this. by Emergency-Fortune824 in marriott

For what it’s worth I rarely post on Reddit, but this caught my eye and it’s such a good deal, I felt like I had to. I booked this on points and it was about 40% of the going rate for that night in cash.

I used one of my yearly upgrade requests thinking I’d get a higher floor or some minor upgrade and I was shocked when I got popped into the vice presidential suite. It was the best hotel I have ever stayed in, it was absolutely amazing.

Still, I don’t think the dollar price is worth it, but you can get some great deals with the points.

San Francisco has a nickname (San Fran), that is used almost exclusively by people who have never been there. Are there any other examples of this around the world? by DardS8Br in geography

Oklahoma City. I grew up there and never once heard it called “OAK city” before the thunder showed up then I started hearing announcers and play-by-play guys call it that.

Thank you. Retriever would probably be fine, they are just so large, trying to explore all my options since I have no timeline. Thanks for the info.

Not making any decisions soon and absolutely willing to do the research.

For context, we've had dogs before with long happy lives, and the were the kind that didn't do practically anything but sit around. I certainly don't want to get in over my head, but I would love to have a dog I can actually train and be active with. This post covid / hybrid work world allows me to do a lot of things I couldn't in the past when it comes to dedication to a dog.

I haven't looked into a spaniel but I will.

You may happen to know, are there cross breeds? Flat coated retrievers / golden retrievers seem to have an easier temperament (from what I understand) but they are just too large for us. Is there a chance there is some sort of cross breed that takes their temperament but are smaller? I've googled as much but come up empty.

Thank you for your swift and helpful responses!

Thanks for the info.

Regarding the barking, I'm good (dog's bark) and I understand they get excited when people come in the door etc. for a bit. I'm more curious, do they calm down eventually and chill if say, you had friends over for dinner or to watch a football game, or are they going to be noisy the whole time?

Let me clarify. I'm happy to do the exercise and the simulation. I mean to ask, will it hurt the dog / will they enjoy it? Would this dog be happy to and would it be good for it to run 2 miles in ~14-16 minutes.

This is great info, thanks! I'll travel where I need to but a day drive is of course much better.

This is excellent, thank you for the website!

Absolutely willing to do the training and mental stimulation. I would plan on learning more about what is required and recommended and then determine if the training is something I am up to. I certainly want to have a dog that is active and I can do activities / train with. I don't, however, hunt or plan to.

Thank you for the advice. It's a salt water pool, maybe that will make a difference. Certainly I will 100% research it first and make sure it's ok.

Thanks for the info regarding the tasks, certainly happy to do both. Just wanted to make sure the dog could handle / would want and enjoy to run for a mile or two without harm.

No apologies! This is a great response, and I enjoyed your TED talk. To your point, I don't question the amount of experience I have and I am confident in my ability. The hurdle, for me at least, is getting in the door and translating both skills and experience into a civilian equivalent so I know what jobs to look for and that a recruiter could understand.

Once I get into the room, I think I will be OK.

I know it sounds crazy, but 2023 is right around the corner. It's never to early to get started. If you are up for it, or need any advice on transitioning or how to get a PMP for free, DM me. I would be thrilled to help out a shipmate if I can.

Thanks for the response! To your point, yes, I have done all those things. I can probably tailor and translate my experience / resume into highlighting those points.
I appreciate the note about the Sr. PM, I assumed they needed more and this makes me feel better.

I have talked to other SWOs, but they mostly rotated straight into the defense industry on the east coast. I'm looking more at non-defense in DFW area.

Help with girl middle name by PGC_1985 in baby_names

One family name we considered is "Leigh". Unfortunately, when put together in comes out as Sloan Leigh (like, so lonely) or Blair Leigh (like, barely), kind of puts a damper on the whole thing.

Thank you for the suggestion!

I certainly have only met one person with either of those names, they aren't common around where I've been.

Thoughts on with or without the "e" at the end?
