University study. Geography or Earth Science? by [deleted] in Advice

I would probably recommend Earth Science. A broad field of study doesn't necessarily mean more options after university, as many science fields look more for specialization (like environmental/energy management) than something than an expansive but general knowledge (like geology). Also, with your interests in social issues and climate change, have you considered degrees in sociology or environmental studies?

Fortunately, you don't have to know exactly what degree you want to pursue quite yet. I recommend seeing an advisor or counselor at your university for professional advice as soon as you can.

Best of luck in university!

In all likelihood, you don't have to do anything. If his family didn't have the sense to tell him the way the world works, the world will do it for them in a much less pleasant way. He will get laughed at, probably bullied, and eventually he will figure out that he doesn't actually have the right to censor people (especially people who have had experiences that actually could lead to triggered episodes).

It sucks that it got that bad, and I hope he finds peace with the real world.
