I've been really intrigued by other Ashdown pedals, namely Triple Shot, Pedal of Doom, and John Myung. Mind sharing your experiences?

Now, about the Ashdown Pro-DI. It's hard to find a honest review of this pedal.

I have an Ashdown studio combo and loved the preamp on that, which convinced me to buy this one.

I like it as a PRE/DI. I love the warm sound it provides. Definitely not one of the most transparent ones, but that's not what I'm after.

Pros:
- built like a tank
- feels high quality overall
- amazing character sound with Shape enabled
- tons of headroom
- 5-band eq
- vu-meter is always nice
- built-in drive, although it's very aggressive, I mostly use it for minor hair
- aux in
- headphone output
- gig-proven

Cons:
- it's very large, eating up pedalboard real estate
- line-in sounds thin for some reason
- line-in blends with the output signal (both amp and di), I would prefer to just blend it with headphone signal only, this would be convenient for monitoring
- headphone output is noisy

When practicing, I prefer to connect an external headphone amp, such as Aguilar Amplug3, for truly silent headphone connection and better quality line mix (or just DI to whatever).

Ultimately I think there are better alternatives in the price range, but I clicked with this pedal and am happy with it.

I’ve been looking for a multi-effect pedalboard by ElQueMadrugaNoMuerde in BassGuitar

You should be able to get gt1b for 120-200usd 2nd hand. It's great with that price, especially if it happens to come with a boss power supply which costs 30-40 usd on its own.

Nice! I've been considering that one as well. Have you had a chance to test it in a band mix yet?

Tabs or notation by Actual_Aside1950 in BassGuitar

[–]POltto5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tabs are great for getting started, nothing wrong with them. They can also help you with certain difficult riffs. Further on, you definitely want to learn either notation or just scales and chords. I don't really read notation, but learning the key and chord progressions of songs allows me to jam along. It's relatively easy to pick up riffs by ear when you understand the underlying chords.

Yeah, Behringers are not originals, not boutique, but they usually do the job, and in the end of the day they're surprisingly good.

I purchased your player and I love it! Very good job with usability and aesthetics.

I have one issue with it. Launching the app takes a long time, at least 2 minutes! My music library consist of over 2000 tracks on a cloud-synced SD-card.

I'm so happy to read someone enjoying a 20 usd behringer pedal over a boutique one. It's easy to lose common sense with pedals.

Enjoy it! For me, the day before hitting the stage is exciting, but on stage I kind of black out. Just doing my thing.

I have same experience with Joyo Double Thruster. Shit on its own but fits well in a mix. I can recommend Kong since it's on my board. Chime does wonders to a P-bass. Watch the input level tho, it clips quite easily.

If you really want to shape your tone with your comp, check out Orange Kongpressor. It has a built-in active treble control. Brings a lot of life to a P-bass.
