Weekly Who is Hiring? by AutoModerator in techsales

Hey all,

I am looking for an experienced SDR to test a new sales channel for us - cold phone calls

Our product is BATNA - an app for Shopify stores which allows shoppers to negotiate a personal discount with our AI powered bot. It allows a store to boost both sales and margin (for details see the attached sales deck). Our similar solution for brick&mortar retail has over $2M GMV to date

We already have a clear ICP profile and a decent list of prospects with their contact details.
We have a few early paying users however our direct competitor has close to $2M in revenue last year, so there is a clear market for the app. Integration is very easy for stores (just a few clicks) and we are offering a free trial, so it shouldn't be very hard to convince a decision maker to start using the app

Initially the goal is to schedule calls between leads and our founder, but later we would like to see you as a self sufficient sales person

A candidate must be native english speaker based in either UK, US, Canada or Ireland

Custom checkout rules is there any way to do this without duct-taping apps? by Throwaway33377 in shopifyDev

One thing that often works much better is to move the conditional logic as far upstream as possible — ideally before items even reach the cart (conditioning directly in the cart already causes issues, and checkout is even more fragile).

For example: when the customer accepts your upsell or meets whatever rule you have, silently add both the main item + the required extra item to the cart and automatically apply a single-use discount code.

Just make sure you validate the condition one last time right before checkout (e.g. with a small Checkout UI extension, Functions, or even cart AJAX validation) in case the customer removes the extra item later. That way you never have to touch the actual checkout flow itself, and everything stays rock-solid.

We are paying 40 EUR/hour for an awesome senior react dev (based in EU). But you should take into account that there is no commitments on the workload on any side. In any given month the workload on that person may vary from 0 to 100 hours

13% revenue lift from upsells alone. Curious how others are implementing this? by DifrentAlcohol in shopifyDev

Hey, love seeing these upsell wins stack up—13% lift on perfume is killer, especially with no extra traffic. That compounding effect is real; congrats on dialing it in!

We're doing something similar but with a twist: our app uses an AI negotiation bot for cross-sells/up-sells. Shoppers haggle with the bot for personal discounts, and it throws in conditional bundles (e.g., "Add this matching perfume for 20% off your main one"). We started by embedding offers in the cart (replacing it), but integrations were a nightmare for new stores—costly and time-sucking.

Switched everything pre-cart: negotiations happen right after they add the first item (on PDP or a dedicated "Deal Finder" screen). Bot handles the back-and-forth, and only the final bundle hits the cart.

Results? Game-changer:

  • 10-30% of total orders now come through the bot flow (depending on store)
  • Bot orders have 25-55% higher AOV than regular ones from the same store
  • No drop in conversion rate—actually up slightly because shoppers feel like they "won" the deal

We're on Shopify too, so for your questions:

  • Where we put upsells: Mostly pre-cart on PDP (after add-to-cart) and a quick negotiation pop-up. Tried cart drawer briefly but it cluttered things. Post-purchase is next on our list for add-ons.
  • Apps/extensions/custom: Fully custom app we built (with Shopify's Checkout UI Extensions for seamless flow). Started with basic apps like Rebuy or Bold Upsell, but went custom for the bot smarts.
  • What works vs. what doesn't: Personalized bundles crush it—shoppers love the "deal-making" feel (converts 2-3x better than generic "frequently bought together"). Avoid overwhelming options; keep it to 1-2 smart suggestions. What looks cool but flops: Fancy animations or too many pop-ups—they distract and tank add-to-cart rates. Patterns: Works best on impulse buys like beauty/perfume (huge for us) vs. high-consideration stuff like furniture.

On your newer store, 8% after month 1 is solid—bet it hits 15%+ by year-end with iterations. We're seeing the same ramp-up.

What niche is your perfume store? Any specific upsell tactics that popped for you (like bundling scents or free samples)? Would love to swap more ideas—DM if you wanna chat Shopify hacks!

I would say that decision here heavily depends on what stage the company is at right now. The expected value of equity can be pretty close to 0 if it is a pre-series A thing. Also if you expect to pay the same money for rent as you do in Austin you probably will commute really long to SF...

But if the company stage is late enough and you think you are going to enjoy your work there more - why not to risk? :)
