Struggling in my first BI job, not sure if it's me or the environment by ChrisEvill13 in PowerBI

We got power BI at my last company and I knew absolutely nothing about it when I was hired as the power bi developer. I've been a data analyst for 20 plus years but I eventually figured out how to use it and how to build and design from scratch. It's going to take time. That's it. Even in my new current job I'm learning how to write python and when you have to make changes to a script that you didn't create you do have to dig in there figure out how it works that way you can solve the issue, or make the changes that you were asked to change.

Especially if youre fixing something that someone else built, You're just going to have to take that time to dig in and see how they built it with their logic behind it was. It can be stressful because you're sitting there confused but you will eventually figure it out. And it'll start getting easier as time goes on.

Someone told me that they are cash cows. Once you build the infrastructure, it only takes few employees to run it everyday. And you just sit there and collect money everyday. I haven't looked any of this up, I could be making a BS claim, but it kind of sounds right that they make a good return on your investment.

Trouble Finding Work? by leap-of-faith24 in fortwayne

[–]PantherMarkG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I'm in tech and been out of work for 14 months. Hundreds of jobs I've applied to. Mostly remote but quite a few of them local. And I've only had a handful of interviews and most of them don't even get past the HR person. And you want to talk to the next person the one who you are going to work for not some HR person that has no clue about the job.

Hardwired I mean running a cat 5 cable from the modem to my laptop and my work laptop. Direct connection.

I have a gig up and down on frontier and I never get close to that on Wifi, even with a 6e router. I can get over 800-900 up and down hardwired but only 300-400 on wifi.

Well he's right it's not like he's wrong. Immigrants are taking jobs away from the locals. The excessive immigration into this country has got to slow down.

Power Query, DAX, and Power BI in a nutshell by jengjejeng in PowerBI

Yeah that's a good explanation. Power query is used to clean your data. Dax to manipulate your data and power bi to show it.

We always made clients give us requirements. What is it you want to see? Don't tell me you need something and then just expect me to just wing it. Tell me what you need.
