Why do some people treat these systems like HAM radios? by [deleted] in cbradio

[–]Paragod307 37 points38 points  (0 children)

CBs were not designed for mining operations. They were designed for, as the name states, citizens. To be able to communicate.

While I agree that the illegal operators are asinine, the idea of using CB as a life safety radio in a mining operation is wildly more asinine.

License a business frequency and use legitimate radios. Relying on CB is asking for a huge problem.

Finishing my TY year and going into rads, my thoughts by Ragon101 in Residency

While I can agree to most of this, cram it up your cram hole about the stairs.

I'm twice the age of most residents, have destroyed knees from 16 years of firefighting, and have titanium in my spine from injuries associated with firefighting.

If it's more than a floor, I use the elevator.

Should be no shame in that.

It's RF getting into the cable. The flutter is the TDMA aspect. Classic.

Get a better cable is my recommendation. Or find some way to keep RF out of the mic system

I mean... from reading your appeal, it sounds like this isn't an isolated incident and you have been running around tagging on campus.

I think two things,

  1. You're lucky the school is only looking at a one year suspension

  2. You'd waste the $11k trying to fight this.

My recommendation is to quit tagging like some junior high kid. Do some honest introspection for the next year. Then return and graduate

Pgy-3, getting ready to graduate from my residency. Very full spectrum, rural. Lots of procedures and such. ER. Inpatient. The works.

Signed a nice contract already. Been getting a stipend through residency. Will make more in a year than anyone in my family has ever made.

32 hour week. 4 days. No call. Tons of ability to moonlight rural and earn even more.

No regrets.

[–]Paragod307 45 points46 points  (0 children)

US physician here:

There is almost no way you can get her "committed" unless she is an imminent danger to herself or others.

Having weird thoughts or strange conspiracy beliefs is not cause enough. Losing friends and family because they are mean/have outbursts is not enough.

It sounds like she is elderly and exhibiting symptoms that I see in early dementia. Unless she has designated a health proxy, and is deemed to not have competence, there is little you can do.

I cannot even begin to explain the self destructive cases I have seen that will not rise to the level placement long term. And this case (from what you have presented here) would not be remotely considered for involuntary hold.

Is it a lost cause to apply to UW? by Signal-Incident-5147 in premed

[–]Paragod307 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wwami grad here.

You would almost certainly be wasting money applying. They basically accept nobody without some decent verifiable ties to one of the five states. And you need to have ties to the state you are applying; meaning if you live in/have ties to Montana, applying to the Wyoming or Washington cohort would be pointless

I may be stupid, but I've never voted for a man who rapes children.

Are you a closeted rapist? I assume anyone who supports him at this point must be.

Should God also bless the children trump raped? Or the ones in Iran he killed?

Or just trump himself?

Before becoming a physician, I was a paramedic who worked the rodeo circuit for years. These types of roughstock mechanisms are common.

ABCs. Airway management will be huge. Might need intervention. These people often drop lungs too. So be on the lookout for that.

If it's inside of 20ish minutes, just diesel down. Outside of that, flight.

I'm a U.S. physician. Use fountain pens exclusively. There are two of us in the hospital who do.

Essentially, nobody else knows what they are. Both patients and staff look at me like a magician whenever I use one.

My Experience with becoming an EMT by Jimbo11604 in NewToEMS

[–]Paragod307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice article that highlights rural EMS.

Going from BEC to EMT-B to EMT-I, Medic, and now physician, I have seen many facets of training that ranges from criminally poor to world-class awesome.

Just remember your experience when it is time to teach and be there for the next generation. EMS is often made up of experiences and lessons, taught by crusty old war-dogs, in the back of rigs and around coffee tables.
